Our 8-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 in February. She’s very eager to connect with other girls from ages 7-12 who have been recently diagnosed. She’s frustrated with the constant finger pricks and all the shots and wants to talk with a peer who understands what she’s going through.
She’s very social and loves to talk with friends on Face Time and video calls. If anyone has a daughter in this age range and is willing to connect, please drop me a note.
Hi @ryanmfrank. If you do a search for “friends” on the forum you’ll find people seeking ones for themselves or their kids, and usually indicating the age group they fall in.
Proceed with caution as the site is open to anyone and If you post email addresses here on the forum (if I put mine in this message, for instance), anybody can get them. I suggest you connect by clicking on the person’s name and sending private messages, and sharing contact info that way if you choose. Stay well all!
Hi. Our 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with T1D in April. She would love to answer any questions your daughter may have. She is very comfortable talking about her situation. She has the Dexcom G6 continuous glucose monitor. It is great. Megan
I was just searching for this exact post. My eight year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 a week and a half ago. She has been so brave, but I know she feels sad that she has to go through this when her other friends do not. I would love to be able to connect her with someone her age going through the same experience. If your daughter is still looking for a friend, mine needs one.
I have an 8yo T1D son, we are also looking for friends. He definitely feels the pressure and stress of being T1 and it would be nice for him to not feel so alone. He is into all things Yu Gi Oh and Star Wars, not sure if that interests your daughter.
Hey , I’m not sure of the age range for this app but it’s called beyond type one and there’s a lot of people on there who talk about everything a diabetic could go through .
Hi our 9 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 on September 24, 2018. We live in a small town and she is the only child around with diabetes, definitely would cheer her up having something in common with your daughter. Take care
