Hi, my name is Mallory, I’m 16, and I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes back around summer in 2015. In the beginning when I was diagnosed, I didn’t think much of it. It was overwhelming for a little bit and I didn’t quite understand it all at first. I just knew that I was sick and that I needed to accept this as something I have to do. But later on, of course, I began to understand it better and discovered it wasn’t something I could get rid of. It’s been a struggle. I’ve become tired with dealing with it and I wish I could make it all disappear. I know I’m not the only one and I know there’s others out there that are in the same boat I’m in. I’m not trying to play some victim card at all in this, I just haven’t met anyone else who has T1D so I can’t relate with anyone. So, I decided to just try this out and see if there are any other T1D teens out there.
Hi Mallory! Welcome to Type OneNation!! I’m so glad you found us. This is a great place to ask questions, share advice, and connect with other PWD!
I’m Abby (she/her); 17 years old and diagnosed age 7. I totally relate to your struggle–I don’t have any other students with T1 at my school and it’s really easy to feel alone sometimes. To help with this, I’ve created a few different group chats with other T1 Teens from around the world! I’d love to add you to one. If you’re interested, feel free to pm me and we’ll exchange contact info. I can’t wait to chat with you!
Great! It’s nice to meet you! Thanks for replying to this I’d love to give it a shot!
Hey Mallory @Malpal165! I’m Amanda, 14, and am kinda in your same situation. Theres’s one boy in my grade with T1D, but he doesn’t talk to me at all.
Pm me and I can give you my email if you would like. I don’t have a phone (yet), so that’s really the only way I talk to people.
Hey, I’m kindle! I was diagnosed in July. I’ll be 16 in January.
