Being a teen with T1D

Hello, my name is Kylie. I was diagnosed with T1D a few months back in October, it hasn’t been that long but it sure does feel like it. I was diagnosed just right after starting Freshman year, it’s not December and the first semester is done. I’m 15. It’s difficult a lot of the time, i don’t show it a lot though. I love that there is a whole community of supporters and people who have diabetes. I often think I am very understood, it’s nice to have people to talk to on here! That being said, if anyone needs someone to talk to, i would love to talk, also if anyone has any advice or tips let me know ! Thanks!

  • it’s now December*

I’m here. Just let me know :metal:.

Hi,
I am a type 1 diabetic for 56 years. My advice to you is have a good attitude. It is not easy but i tell myself that tomorrow is another day. Our bodies have their own minds. You bs’s may be off at times with no reason, let it go. I am on the pump and have a CGM which helps. I hope this helps you. It is new to you and will become part of your every day living. I hope there will be a cure soon.

Abuta

Thank you for the advise, I appreciate it a lot! I have a positive attitude most of the time, I also tell myself that I just have to take it one day at a time! Thank you so much !:purple_heart:

I meant to say *advice

Hey! I know it may sound lame but I don’t have social media, like insta or snap, but I have an email, it would be nice to have someone to talk to about it! My email is kadz1677@gmail.com if you want to talk !

Hi Kylie,
I’m 17 and was diagnosed in 2004 when I was two. Although I lived basically my whole life with T1D, I still let it take a huge toll on my schoolwork, social life, and sleeping habits. It is a stressful condition and I do have days where I actually can’t deal with it. I would love to talk also. No one besides other diabetics understand the significant impact it has on all activities not just eating.
My email (don’t judge made it when I was 7) is epiggies77@gmail.com
I hope I can help and I’m here for you.
-Emma

@eshapiro Emma that can’t be true enough. It totally does take a huge toll on everything. Especially for me. And I’m only 14. And I have had this for about 5 years.
