Newly diagnosed 17 month old

I just wanted to use this first post to introduce myself a little bit. My name is Nichole, I’m 26 and a SAHM of two girls. My oldest is 3, and my youngest is almost 18 months. My youngest was just diagnosed T1D on March 22, 2019. It came as a complete shock, which I’m sure normally the case, but I think we’ve all been coping pretty well considering. Not sure what else to really add at the moment, I’m just really happy that there is an online community resource like this where I’ll be able to reach out to when I have questions.

Welcome to TypeOneNation forum, Nichole @Nicholejuntunen92.
I trust that you, your daughter is getting help from a good medical care team - one preferably led by an endocrinologist and that includes a good diabetes educator, a CDE. Feel free to continue posting questions here for additional tips, suggestions and support. Plenty of experience learned diabetes education here - just among the first three people responding here you will find almost 160 years of living with diabetes.

A thought, take one day at a time and learn how diabetes affects your daughter and expect it might be possible that no two days are alike. Keep notes for sharing with her medical team - for the next several years you will be her primary caregiver/physician. Yes, a burden but you will do really well by her.
