Diabetic in Dreams

Regardless of my dream's situation I always know that I am a Diabetic. How about you? When you are asleep and dreaming are you aware that you have Diabetes?

no. my dreams are the wierdest so i guess there is never any room for diabetes

Hmm...I don't think I've ever noticed. I tend to have strange dreams, though. I'll have to pay more attention.

It's very unusual for it to come up in my dreams too. But, a few weeks ago, I had a terrible anxiety dream where my 16 month old was dx'ed w/ D, but I couldn't find a ped. endo b/c it was at night, and I didn't know how much insulin to give someone so small, but I was afraid he'd die if I didn't give him any. I actually blamed Juvenation for the dream. (: Too much reading about newly dx'ed kiddos...

Yes. Some mornings, I can tell you exactly what my blood sugar was when I tested in my dream. Or the carbs I ate. Some nights I even dream of my insulin doses; usually when I'm low because that involves food. Like the dream where I ate a sub sandwich :D

I often test in dreams too, even when the dream is centered around something else.

yes I am aware that I am diabetic in my dreams, but that is because I dream of never having to do it again (meaning we have a cure) and many other diabetics and myself finally receive our commercial pilots license and are cleared to fly!

Wait, that reminds me: can diabetics get their pilot license?

Never happened to me before.  I have some pretty obscure dreams but never am I reminded that I have diabetes or do I have to deal with it in my dreams.

so last night i read this forum...then when i was sleeping i had a dream and i knew i was diabetic bc my sugar was high. never noticed this in my dreams until last night after i read this lol.

i have really weird dreams when i'm high.. and sometimes i test my sugar in my dreams and wake up and i'm low

At times, yes. Sometimes, I would have such an awful nightmare related to diabetes!! and sometimes, its a sweet dream of getting cured!!

I had a dream not too long ago where I was driving in a parking lot and hit another car.  Not real bad, just a fender bender.  But a cop came to my car and knew I was diabetic and said they had to test my blood.  If it was under 45 I was going to be arrested for DWL (Driving While Low).  I was very nervous because I was pretty sure I was.  But, then I woke up!

So I'd say yeah.

i don't think i've ever really dreamed about diabetes.  my dreams are always ridiculously weird but even the ones i can relate to aren't directely related to diabetes.

Like some of you kinda mention...I've also had dreams that I took my blood sugar because I am low, but when I wake up and check I never did check it or obviously treat for it....and infact I am low.

The power of suggestion ha ha. Sorry about that Jordan :)

I don't generally remember many details about my dreams after I wake up, but I can't say that I've ever really been aware of having T1D in my dreams (other than the one I described in a past post, "An alarming BG").

sometimes I have nightmares about pump failures! The worst! > &

I was reading these thinking, great now I'm going to think about diabetes in my sleep now!

But then I realized that I had a dream last night that my sugars were in the 600's (637 i think) NOT good...

So my answer is, that I do have diabetes in my dreams but in about 95% of them I am not aware that I have it. Last night I think I dreampt about it because I had an abnormal high before I went to bed ( I think was due to bubbles in my vial) ...

I always know I have diabetes but when I sleep, I usually go bck to when I wasn't even though I was diagnosed at 18 months, I try and remember what it's lyk, it is a lot easier to have fun with a dream for me...
