Type ones in San Diego

Hi all,

I recently moved back to San Diego and I was hoping to find a community here. I was contacted by the Type One community in Philadelphia but I was only there for about 2 months before moving so I didn’t have the chance to meet up with anyone in person. I would love to get to know more people with my condition and have people to talk to who know what I’m going through.

Best wishes,

Kim

hi @kimberlyelaine Kimberly, you can check the JDRF locations a tthe JDRF web site
https://www.jdrf.org/chapter-select/
and put in your zip code.

Theee is also a group called tcoyd san diego.

Hi Kim,

I thought I’d respond to your post because even though I’m not in CA, I am in WA and that’s just a couple states up so at least we’d be in the same time zone.

I’m 36, and have had type 1 for 30 years.
I feel like around here it’s pretty quiet in terms of an adult type 1 diabetic community. So, I feel pretty isolated on that front. My kid pointed out a woman while we were at Costco in the check out lines a few days ago who was wearing the freestyle libre on her arm, so I went over to talk to her but she wasn’t that friendly.
Anyway, if you’d like to talk more I’m open to it and can probably empathize with a been there, done that attitude.

Take Care,

Rachael

Hi Kimberly
I go to the JDRF meetings. Act1 is for adults of all ages. I love that many of us bring our t3 support person. It’s a fun, resourceful group of people all ages and stages of diabetes. We have great speakers/guests. Hope to see you there.

Hi Kimberly! I’m new to this site and just saw your post. I live in La Mesa. I’ve been t1D for 22 years now. Let me know if you ever want to chat.

If you’re in the 21±40ish age range, check out the JDRF SD’s Young Leadership Committee: JDRF San Diego Young Leadership Committee also JDRF has an ACT group…Adults Conquering Type 1: https://www.jdrf.org/sd/events/act1-adults-conquering-type-1/
