Talent or Hobby

Yeah...I have a pretty large one I have been working on for eight years or so!!!!  It's good to start out with a small design!  You definitely need the wooden rings in order to be successful!

C....

I was a friendship bracelet girl!!!  I was ALWAYS making them!!!  What about friendship pins???  Safety pins with beads on them and then you would pin them to your sneakers or shoes???  Loved those too!!!  And collecting stickers!  I had like ten sticker books!!!  Used to trade them with friends.....

Batts,

Thanks.  No, I don't sell them. It is just something I do for fun.

when you were a kid, did anyone else use the embroidery thread for friendship bracelets?

i'm pretty sure if i checked out my closet at my parents' house i would still find a little basket full of embroidery thread and safety pins. i used to make those things by the millions :o)

I did! I still make them for my boys. I tie the ends to Brandan's medic alert charm and make his brother one to match. I use thicker thread now, something similar to hemp or craft threads.

I love to sew!  I make renaissance costumes and have started making cute spring dresses with insulin pump pockets built in!  My family and friends love them, but so far there don't seem to be many pumpers shopping on etsy :(

I also like to garden, refurb antique furniture, ride my scooter around town, and read voraciously!

Oh yeah, and rollerskate!!!!  Someday I want to be in the local roller derby team.  Those girls are awesome :)

Not a big store by any means.  My goal is to list one thing a week.  Only one pump dress so far, maybe I will list another one next week.  :)

Violin! Classical and fiddle :)

I also make reeds.  It is my "craft" of sorts.  I love picking out crochet thread to wrap them in.  Wrapping is my favorite part!

(I don't think I mentioned before that I play bassoon.)

You can make them if you have the time. It is fun and relatively easy. You have to purchase terra cotta pots in 2 different sizes I use 4 inch for the body and 2 1/2 inch for the arms and legs. Clean, prime and paint them. The body is held together by all thread (a long threaded rod available at hardware stores) and you need string or twine, nuts and bolts (that fit the size of your all thread) for the arms and legs. You can use silk or real flowers for the hair. Here's a link to explain the assembly process http://www.the-artistic-garden.com/terra-cotta-pot-crafts-potpeople.html. Also check out  for some photo ideas. My yellow pot guy Sunny is on this website www.claypotpeople.com  . If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Man, I wish I had known you, Katie, when I was in high school.  I played bassoon and I always had to use the icky store bought reeds!!!  :-)

Hello everyone. I wanted to post my most recent pot person. He was finished on Sept. 12, 2010. He is a race car driver and his name is Jegs. I am thinking of getting a checkered flag bandana for him to complete his look. He's a bit too plain for me.
