I wrote this song right after I got out of the hospital after I was Dx with type 1.  Since then it has become our favorite song to play as a band, but I've always felt that it had a very poetic side to it.

Shadow in the Dark

She snuck upon me like a shadow in the dark

She took the world I knew and she tore it all apart

And now I’m tryin’ but I cant tell night from day

And now I’ve lost my place and I cannot find a way

Back to a place where I feel I belong,

back to a place where I can do no wrong,

I’m losing my grip and I wont last very long,

Fighting alone…

I awake at the dawn, and I cant find an escape

She’s tied to me tight, and I’m burning at the stake

I know she’ll stay strong until the bitter end

I’m lyin’ in my bed and I’m tryin’ to pretend

That I’m back to a place where I can do no wrong,

back to a place where I feel I belong ,

Maria, that's really good, especially considering how young you are. You've got some talent.

Maria, have you written music for the song too?  Do you sing and/or play an instrument?
I'll join you in a musicians group.  I play the piano and compose too.

I also play the piano. I hate to admit it, but I haven't played in quite some time. I took lessons for about 6 or 7 years before quitting, but I still play sometimes. I recently got a copy of sheet music to a song I've been wanting to learn, but haven't sat down to teach myself yet. Maybe I'll try to do that before school starts.
