So Food Network is basically one of my favorite TV channels, and it usually has a way to make me hungry. Tonight I'm watching this show and they start talking about and showing doughnuts. Ahhhh... Depressing!!! Not like truly depressing, but you know what I mean. :-
Oh, my gosh, I haven't had a doughnut in forever. Way to go Matt, remind me of their existence!
UGH! I loveeeee the Food Network myself. My fave right now on that channel is who will be the next food network star!
On TV/food related topics, I like Cake Boss :)
CAKE BOSS MAKES ME CRAZY... in a good way =)
I'm in love with every little thing they make... did you see the Bachelorete cake ...LOL LOL!!
see ya -ally <3
Yes, OMG my parents' faces were PRICELESS!! Did you watch it last night?
I watched it tonight - wife has it on the DVR - with the doves and the lobster tails - actually makes me a bit ill - I can feel the bs rise just watching.
LOL when I'm cured, that's the first place I'm going :) well.... it may be near the top of my list.
It's kind of disturbing to put birds in a cake.... there's just something about it that doesn't seem right. And go Doug's wife! She watches good TV lol And I understand giving that woman the lobster tails, but there were two, they were humungous (however it is you spell that), and then all the other stuff on top of that...?! Yikes.
Yea I saw that too...
they trying to kill the poor fetus?
The food in general always makes me hungry. However, no matter how one treats diabetes if we see something on food network that makes us hungry. We can eat it. I mean yes a little more thought and planning needs to go into things, but we can still do it. I used to love watching thirty minute meals with Rachel Ray, I got some great Vegetarian recipes from her.
I hate Rachel Ray! :P She needs to not talk and she'd be bearable.
Big time Bobby Flay fan though. I fancy myself as a grillmaster and try to do a lot of the things that he does. He makes it look so easy though...that's what you get for your Johnson & Wales Univ educated chefs! I'm not a big fan of Emeril because I think he's full of himself...love his recipes though. Emeril actually went to JWU as well, but he was kicked out for drugs...BAM! Go figure.
Sorry for the threadjack. The one show that makes me sad is any show with Paula Dean on it. Her food looks so good, but it would destroy your BG for days with all the fat and sugars in it. I think the woman puts a cup of mayonaisse and butter in everything she makes. "Ice cream just ain't the same without a little mayo, y'all!"
Back to the original topic, was the donut thing with Alton Brown? I really like his show. Haven't had a donut in awhile either.
Now I'm hungry...thanks Matt
I was tempted to mock Paula Dean for her unhealthy yet yummy sounthern food, but I was gonna hold back

[/quote]Just the other day a friend of mine said she went to Paula's restaurant last week, and the food was not nearly as spectacular as she was hoping. Maybe it just looks and sounds better than it tastes. Or would that be "sour grapes"? :)

I like that show as well. My favorite show is probably "Throwdown with Bobby Flay."

Sorry for the depressing topic haha. But yea, Paula Dean's food makes me really sad. Growing up in the south, her food looks so good. Personally she gets on my nerves but her food. WTF Why does it have to be so good yet so bad for us?
They always make the food look more appealing and pretty for TV. I am sure it is good, but again you would need to spend so much time counting the carbs of some of her foods. Again though, she is an amazing cook.
Monique, I am sure your friend ran into the typical disappointment many people do when they go to the actual restaurant of the chef. You make the mental prep for something to be so so good, that when you finally eat it you are a bit disappointed. The mind is an amazing thing and yet it completely messes with us at times.
I had a doughnut last week! Makes a great mid morning snack!

Sigh. Doughnuts just aren't worth it - they really kill my bg LOL
Speak for yourself, if I can figure out a way to work a Dunkin Donuts Plain Stick into my day I will. Heck, it could be my lunch for all I care.
