That's cuz ur a dude lol I so wish I had a guy's matabolism :D
Hey don't blame it on me being a dude. Blame it on the fact that I run todos los dias. Not to mention the fact that I have no metabolism due to a lack of thyroid function.
I'm trying to ignore the fact that there's a doughnut waiting for me when I wake up this morning...
Ok guys well I guess I'm just going to have to say it. I don't know what they were showing the the Food Network about doughnuts but I know here in Canada we have a coffee chain called "Tim Hortons", Tims for short(and all of the canadians will know what I'm talking about) but anyway I've worked to them off and on for about 6 yrs now(the whole time being a t1) and recently I would go into work for 4am and every morning the baker would have doughnuts waiting for me. They were called sour cream plain, and they are my very fav. doughnut. So sometimes I would have 2 1st thing in the morning to make sure I don't go low before I was able to have a break later in the morning and get a real breakfast. But they were so good!!!!!
And Alyssa, for you not to have a plain doughnut ever once in a while may not be that bad for the bs. And the only reason I was able to have the doughnuts was because I would be moving pretty fast and by 7am probably dropping low. And I'm like brian in that I don't have any metablosim due to thryoid problems and now I only have 1/2 of my thryoid left.
So getting back to Matt's orginal post Doughnuts.............ggggggooooooooooooooddddd!!!!!!! LOL
CJ
Mmmmmmm... sour cream plain...... my favourite too! Especially when it's dunked into a Timmy's coffee - Pure heaven!
Brian - You are absolutely right. I live for food network and have taken many of the recipes and modified them to make them more friendly for my diabetic daughter. Its all in the outlook. A donut isnt the problem....the problem is lots of donuts, no monitoring and what we put on them! We use biscuits, cut the centers out, fry them in the fry daddy - drain well and put things such as powdered sugar and watered down icing! Its all in being creative and being moderate! What a smart one you are for letting the girls know that they still have choices! We just have to make more SMART choices than most!
LOL
My smart choice, for myself, has to be not to eat them though. My blood sugars really freak out from it, and it messes up my whole day, so. I don't see it as worth the food to myself, and thus stick to other foods :D
Although it is staring at me... who knew doughnuts have eyes?!
So glad to see all my fellow diabetics are foodies as well! Food network is awesome, but it does always make you very very hungry :) Now I just need to learn how to cook.
Donuts do not have eyes, it is the bundles of money that you could be saving on your car insurance from Geico that have eyes. And my philosophy is when it doubt and you want to eat it count the carbs and bolus if you have issues keep trying till it works right for you.
i truely hate watching food network because on top of my diabetes i have celiac &i can't have anything on any of those shows because they all have glutens D: whatta bummer!
