Ok here goes

I have noticed that when my blood sugar is elevated slightly after having very good control for a long time, I mean 180-220, I feel as though I am easily "turned on" if you will believe that.  I'm not sure if thats just me or not so that's why I ask if anyone else has the same thing.  I want to know if its just me or more people because if its not just me than my theory about the your body trying to preserve itself or pass on its genes is legit.  "Closer to death" with a higher blood sugar you body wants to pass on your genes incase you dont recover from the high blood sugar...its just a theory.

i have not felt that way. but it makes me wonder if the good control of your blood sugars makes you feel more confident, resulting in more "turned on" feelings.

just another theory to add to our list of millions :o)

That's an excellent theory Greg!

This most definitely applies to me. I always thought that it was because I feel more aggressive when my sugar is higher and because sex pretty much always brings my sugar down (exercise).

Something else I noticed  when my sugar is really low I fall asleep or pass out. It is like my body shuts off to preserve energy. So it is possible that our bodies do something similar for highs.

I have no idea, but I will have to pay attention!!

When my blood sugar is lower than about 70, or dropping,  I get an adrenalin (epinephrine) reaction.  This reaction makes me well the opposite of "easily turned on".  in other words my heart is pounding, I am sweating, tense, and aggressive.

sooooooo maybe if you are clearly not low or dropping, you may feel your mojo?   sex is definately easier if I am not in the low 70's or dropping.

Cheers

Well Greg, if you are asking one of my least favorite celebrities with type 1 diabetes, Bret Michaels, he would agree with you.  It was the first time I had heard of it when he mentioned it in an article.  I went back and found it so have a laugh... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/10/diabetic-bret-michaels-i_n_213943.html     I would have to say, at least for guys, you and Bret might have a point!

Interesting!

I don't know about the "body want ing to pass on its genes" comment, kinda sounds like a comment i heard from a woman who i encountered on chat room forum who believed in euegenics. To quote her, she said that people should not mention health problems like diabetes on their profiles on dating sites becuase having such a condition would make would put their children at risk of passing diabetes along gentically and people avoid that when looking at potential partners.  Frankly speaking though your bloodsugars can have an affect (postive or negative) on a person's libido depending how high or low it is.
