Sex and Diabetes

I have only had sex a couple of times but my blood sugar was high (250-350) after both times. Do blood sugars actually flucuate like that during sex or could have it just been stress and nerves from doing it the first couple of times?

It could be both. I've noticed recently my blood sugars run really high afterwards too. I'm not sure why, but I'm thinking it might just be because I'm unhooked from my pump for a bit (I don't always put it back on right away). I just usually test and correct if I need to after I get hooked up again.

I tend to run lower after sex, but that all depends on the length and how intense we got into it haha, but usually it's a little while after. it's not uncommon for me to have to ask my boyfriend to get me some juice after wards. if i'm already high, it's not likely for me to get a low, but if i'm at a normal level, i usually drop.

personally i would chop it up to stress and nerves since sex is a recently new experience for you and your body.

Ditto... I tend to run low afterwards, if anything.

I would also agree that running higher may be attributed to stress/nerves... those can do havoc to your blood sugar levels under any conditions!

apparently i'm not burning enough calories when it comes to sex.  can we share tips? is that too saucy for juvenation? SAAAAUUUCCCAAAAY.

i feel like being really immature right now, so i'm trying to control myself.

I must say the running low used to happen more when we were first dating... apparently we've, er,  calmed down a bit.  (When did I become an old married lady?)  We used to keep his nightstand drawer full of candy... heh!

i don't ever recall having a low blood sugar. even with new guys! am i going to have to start incorporating some new tricks? this could be interesting. sex with the goal of lowering my a1c.

And, now I have to eat my words.  I still go low after sex.

Ba-zing!

hahaha.... i was just thinking, "what is kim doing up at 5:30am?... that's an absurd hour of the morning." now i know without even asking.

hahahahahahahha.

Unfortunatley, 5:30 - 6:00 is my normal time to get up during the week for work.  My, ahem, 'research' was conducted last night.  It was in the name of science!

ouch. when i'm commuting to ames, i have to be up that early (not today obviously). otherwise i'm normally up around 7am. the later, the better for me. i'm not functional before about... 3pm.

Yeah, s'fun.  I tend to not sleep much with the current job I have.  Hopefully my next one has a later start... although I do enjoy the leaving earlier part.

you could move sexy time to the morning. what a great way to start the morning, eh? 5:30 am just might be worth it. HAHA.

i'm usually a late-nighter myself. it's nice to fall asleep cuddley, and naked, and warm, and happy.

is this too much information? no one probably cares about my habits. i have no one to talk about sex with!

That would be one way to counteract the dawn effect.  But, it would probably not be condusive to the whole "waking up" thing...  I'd prolly fall right back asleep.  :D

move it to 4:30, then sleep until 5:30? :o)

HAHHAHA You guys have been making me laugh sooooooooooo hard

I normaly go low after but lately ive been high after.

Until recently I never really noticed a change in my sugars.  Now I'm finding I go low.  Sometimes right smack in the middle of it too.  Not cool.
