My son is a type 1 diabetic who was diagnosed at age 2, he is now 14. He has the Medtronic 670g insulin pump and guardian sensors. Due to unfortunate events we lost insurance and are on Illinois Medicaid, but they do not cover the sensors and his blood sugars without the sensor runs between 300 - 400. Does anyone know what we can do to get them, the cost for out of pocket is out of the question. Thank you for any help you can give
Medtronic has a special department for low income patients without insurance. They can drastically lower the amount the sensors cost out of pocket depending on your income. From what I’ve read on the forums, the process is not a fun experience, but worth it if you get what you need.
