Are there any other type 1s in the Washington, DC/DMV area that might be interested in getting together? I’ve been diabetic for 16 years, am 26 years old and have been living in D.C. for almost three years. I’ve never had any diabetic pals, and it’s something I definitely yearn for for the support and camaraderie and understanding, etc. Was thinking of trying to organize a happy hour or coffee or something of the like for anyone in the area who might also want to meet fellow T1Ds.

Yes, there are many people living with diabetes in your area, I met some quite unexpectedly while eating in different restaurants while on my many business trips. There are a couple of JDRF Chapters close by you through which you can meet people who understand your life. Select the “Events” Tab at the top of this page and choose the “JDRF Near You”. And while you are exploring there you may notice events which interest you.
