Feeling nauseous

I don't think I've posted this question before..considering how many posts I have but I'm going to post again..because I can't find a previous post (if there was one, i tried to search but it was daunting)

Anyways, for the last...two months? I've been waking up most mornings feeling nauseous...but not in my stomach. It's that nauseous feeling you get in the back of your throat before you vomit.

I haven't yet though (thankfully). I know I'm not pregnant and there doesn't seem to be an obvious trigger for it.

No matter what my blood sugar is, it happens. I could be 20 or 5 or 8 and still feel this way. My stomach feels hollow but not nauseous. I thought for the first few weeks I was just starting to get hungry in the morning (never been much of a breakfast eater before 10-103am) but it doesn't go away when I eat.

It usually only lasts a few hours in the morning, I'll stop feeling this way around 11am at the latest.

It stopped for a couple weeks, so I thought maybe it was a touch of the flu or something but this morning I woke up and feel this way again.

I'm going to call my doc this morning and see when I can get in to see him..which will probably end up being next week. blah.

Just wondering if anyone else has felt this way? If so, did you find out what it was or did it just go away?

I have been feeling the same way for several months now. It's on and off. But it happens in the morning, I feel nauseous like I need to eat or my stomach is upset from something I ate the night before. Not sure what causes it but it goes away after a couple hours. Eating sometimes helps.

Let me know what your Doctor says.

My doc seems to think it's an acid reflex thing =/ but I think it's a wheat allergy. I went and did a bunch of tests like for iron (since i'm so lethargic lately), and he said depending on the results, I may end up getting a referral to see an allergy specialist. he gave me some anti-acid pills to try in the meantime though.

My roommate freshman year in college had the same problem you are describing. She would wake up in the morning feeling like she had to throw up and would run to the community bathroom. This literally happened everyday for a good month or two, but I don't think she ever threw up. I remember the doctor told her it was an acid reflex thing too, and had something to do with a drip in the back of her throat while she slept. And that is what caused the acid reflex maybe? I'm kinda fuzzy on the details it was three years ago.

well i went to the clinic last night because i randomly have these really weird looking stretch marks around my belly button (my mom thought i was pregnant or something because of how bloated i was ugh) and the doc thinks i have gallbladder disease (my mom had to get hers removed when she was about my age, it's more common in females and it runs in families..) but i can't get an ultrasound to get it checked out for 2 weeks! ugh.

aw man I'm sorry to hear that Batts. I'm assuming the two week wait is just a part of the free health care in canada? maybe you could be put on a wait list so if anyone cancels their appointment they can call you and you can go in before then. I hope it all goes well and fixes the problems you've been having.

I know they are thinking GB issues, but here's my experience with this problem...During vet school I had this same problem, felt nauseous every morning, even called in sick to work quite a bit but by later morning felt fine.  They started me on antacids, didn't help.  Did a test to look at the rate my stomach was emptying, because as diabetics we can have motility issues.  This came back normal.  Even did a stomach scope and biopsies and found nothing.

Finally a doctor started me on sleeping pills-worked like a charm!  Turns out, I was so stressed/such a light sleeper, that between everything going on I was not getting a good uninterrupted night sleep every night.  Not getting enough sleep was actually making me sick.  I still get this way if I have something particularly stressful going on, and I still take sleeping pills occasionally, along with other relaxation techniques such as yoga.  Not sure if you're a light sleeper or if you've had any stressful changes lately, but this is just another idea for you.

I hope you feel better soon!

yeah it's probably because of I am booked at the hospital this time to get it done. Last time I got an ultrasound for my Gallbladder I went to the private clinic and I got an appointment the same week (this was two years ago when I was having serious issues..I actually woke up one night in so much pain I went to the hospital and when i first attempted to get out of bed to meet the medics, i couldn't walk!) but I didn't get that option this time because it was ordered through a walk-in clinic not my family doc.

I've always had periods of time where I don't sleep well, but it's never been associated with stomach pain before. I'm pretty used to functioning on little sleep as when I was 13-19 I would wake up numberous times at night for 30mins-an hour each time. Doesn't happen much anymore and I'm pretty much sleeping as much as possible because I'm super lethargic but I've actually have had these stomach symptoms before (though never the vomitting feeling or bloating), about 2years ago and they thought they were gallbladder stones but my ultrasound came back clear. I was also tested at that time for celiac but it came back negative too, but after eliminating bread the pain eventually went away. if the gallbladder ultrasound comes back clear, the next step is to go see a specialist to get allergy testing.
