Gym 9:30 - 11 today
Thanks Michelle! We just bought two harnesses for the big dogs that actually really help with the pulling issue. As far as keeping Gracie out of the air....not so much. I'll look for the lead you mentioned though. We're also thinking about getting a little wagon for Ricky since he's got arthritis in his hind legs (and he's only 3!!) so he can only walk about 4 or 5 blocks before he's hurting. We'd like to try to "harness" the two big dogs to the wagon and they could pull Ricky. Maybe the extra drag will slow them down a little. It's worth a shot, huh? If we do it, I promise I'll take a picture and post it. (Just the visual makes me giggle...)
And oh! Hey...I actually parked my car in the second to last row at Perkins at lunch and got some extra steps in! Woo-hoo!!!!
Cross fit? Isn't that a bra?
You guys are already helping me. I usually work out for 30 minutes every day except Wed (the one day a week I work late). But, I read this thread last night, and was like, "Oh no, I have nothing to add today" and I did a quick 20 min workout before bed.
I've never been great about exercising, and I'm busy being a mom and working part-time. But, I've become addicted to those "10 minute solution" DVD's. When my son is napping in the afternoon, I combine 3-4 of the 10 minute workouts from different DVDs in my bedroom w/o leaving the house. It's the only way I can get it done! And, I'm not bored b/c I do different ones. If I'm feeling lazy, I'll force myself to do a couple of the easy ones and it usually gets me going to do a full work-out in the end. Because of the steroids I'm on, I haven't lost any weight, but this routine has definitely stopped me from gaining more than the 10 lbs I had already gained from the steroids when I started exercising. I thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else is lazy and busy like me. (:

I've always thought about doing DVDs, like that 90X one, but I'm not sure I could motivate myself to actually work-out if I'm not forcing myself to leave the house..i get distracted easily..but that is a good idea!
Well, it's been about 11 days since my last post and I have to say...I REALLY need to keep up with this. It really helps keep the motivation and awareness going for me. I haven't gotten out nearly as much as I wanted to over the last week, but I AM eating MUCH better than I had been, so that's got to be worth something. I think I actually ate a salad for lunch two or three days last week!! (Let there be GREAT rejoicing!!!)
Anyway, since my dogs are rehab-ing for a week or so, I have to walk myself this week. Guess I"ll have to charge up the ipod, huh? (Gracie cut one of her pads on a chunk of metal and Lucy twisted one of her paws stepping into a hole on her last run in the park. Ricky is just pudgy so he's really slow. I don't get much of a workout if I walk only him, so I leave that up to my husband.)
yesterday it rained most of the day so I used it as an excuse to sit in my chair and reading - nearly ALL DAY :o. Wouldn't it be nice if we could lose weight by just exercising our minds?? Then again, if things worked that way, we'd probably still be the most overweight nation in the world...(Did I say that out loud..????)
Peace, my friends!
Great on the salad eating !! Do you have a tredmill ? I have one that I need to use...we could set a goal day by day or weekly and check back here...I need to exercise and will put it off for sure :(

haha yes P90X. I downloaded the version for your ipod....but it's hard to work out and watch your ipod at the same time hahaha
Meme,
I don't have a treadmill but I do have a pretty decent elliptical.First, though, I have to get back on the darn thing and see how much I can do before passing out, then WATCH OUT! (Seriously, watch out...I could fall off and need some help getting up....)
Let's start goal setting!!
~J~
ha, be careful on that thing !! ..and make sure while your ipod is playing.. that if outside walking- your watching for traffic too ! What do you think of a daily roll call like the good old school days... Each person that does any kind of exercise that they feel good about could sign in that day or week...could be motivating ?? we could place it in the --Weight Support Group..What ya think ?? :) wait...I guess the person would have to want to sign up for roll call to be accountable....What say you ?? :)
Wow it's been 13 days since i lasted visited this thread, but I'm so happy that it's been such a hit. Well over the past days since last posting I've been out in the backyard doing yardwork at least 2 of those days and it's for anywhere between 2.5-5 hrs in total each time I do the yardwork. And I've been having alot more salad for dinner(i just add a little tuna to the salad for protein, and it becomes quite a healthy and very filling meal!!!)
But as for the walking I just haven't done still having a hard time getting up and motivated, like many of the days that I haven't been able to get out and do my yardwork(cause the yard needs so much work) I just sit and either read for just watch movies. If only we could lose weight by exercising our minds!!!! Also I find that since we moved into our new apt in Jan. I don't get out to walk the dog as much as either of us needs because now we have a back yard(as you've probably figured) to let her out in and I feel so guilty, hopefully the guilt will be enough to get me more active.
After reading many of the responses from others that have a steady workout routine on this thread I think some of my problem is that I need to get into a schedule about it. Like when you get up in the moring before coffee or breakfast(as long as bg is good) do a workout and then later in the day take the dog for a walk. so i'll try it and see how it works!!
Thanks for all the encouragement guys!!!!!!!!

CJ, I am so glad to see you back around here..I missed you. Well , I think maybe just maybe I will exercise today. I think I will start that Post in groups where members can just sign in once they exercise and put the date beside it..seeing all those people really making that effort will be encouraging I think and let their conscience be their guide because we are all different ages and do different levels of exercise..if I even dare to say that word with my record,ha :) I will be back later and start that post and see who signs in for the day :)
Janie sent me a note..she has it all set up for us...Thank You Janie !!! I had missed this yesterday.. so everyone go to --Weight Loss Support Group -- and let's get this party started,ha :) I want cake ...just kidding ,ha :)
i walked to work this morning instead of bussing, cuz it was actually nice out..but i skipped the gym monday and tuesday. this is my "off week" where i get to pig out on cravings cuz i'm a woman. i did buy goggles last night though so I can start doing laps in the pool to help my back.
so this morning I was all pumped to start working out in the mornings since reading all of your posts. ok so i put in the cd and it wouldn't work(it was corrupted) tried to find the work out on my computer but didn't have a copy so i spent the whole day trying to get a workout cd ready for tomorrow. but instead of my workout today i walked to the grocery store(about 10-15 mins down hill) and bought $60 in groceries and then walked home, all the way up the hill & it only took me 20 mins. so at least i was able to get out today!!!

it's good to be back and thank you so much meme for all your well wishes. hope to chat with you soon darling
i was up early today and at like 930 realized i should've gone for a run while no one was in the park...but didn't. blah. maybe tomorrow if i'm not hungover.
met up with a friend and walked 2.64miles(though we went to the market and got mini homemade donuts and then the pub for lunch..so that cancels it out!)
and then i just walked 2.15miles from the bacon eating contest i was photographing to my mom's so i could pick up some stuff. BUT i had all my camera gear in my sidebag, so i had some resistance and there were some small hills on the walk, so hopefully that makes up for earlier and going out tonight!
Hey! this thread died! =( that's no fun!
I'll kick off bringing it back alive.
Last night was my second night this week doing a Deep Water AquaFit class(Monday night is AquaFit where you have a floaty device around you and do excerises, Wednesday night is AquaJog where you have a floaty device but are tethered to the lane dividers and focus more on "jogging/running" in the water with some other exercises as well). Each class is 45minutes, my girlfriend and I have it put into our books that Monday and Wednesday nights are swim class night so hopefully we'll keep going.
Then starting next Thursday I start up my Yoga/Mediation classes weekly again. Saturday I'm going to try and get up early for a jog around the park and a swim at the pool.
come on people! post your workouts!!
This morning I got up early, went to the pool and did 20mins of laps(first time doing laps in years so i'm slowly working my way into it), then walked the 15minutes to work.
Batts, I've been posting under the "Roll Call" thread in the weight loss group, but I'm switching things up and posting here today. Just for you!! (: I met my weekly goal today of walking to do at least one errand instead of driving each week -- walked to the pharmacy & it was so hot and humid here! I'm really trying to keep up with this goal b/c it saves on gas too (poor oil-drenched animals in the Gulf!!!). But, it's getting so hot here. :P
I usually do my exercise videos at 2 pm or so, so I should get my butt in gear!!
