I'll start with a weird one.
Have you ever been going to the bathroom and operating your pump at the same time?
I have haha

have you ever purposefully done a needle injection infront of someone you know is scared of needles, just to watch them freak out.
(i do that to my buddy andy all the time..now that i'm on the pump, i tug the tubing to freak him out...or TALK about doing a needle, or tugging on my tubing haha)
oo oo
have you ever told someone you were shooting up herion when they asked "what are you doing?"
(I scared a couple of 16year olds a few years ago with that joke. offered them a "hit" for $1 a piece. "best stuff in town, i swear" haha)

I've been very close to falling into water with my pump on, it was like ahhhhh phewwwww and then i sat there a while on dry ground/dock and reflected on what happened haha
I test while running all the time. Don't stop moving my legs, maintain pace, it has gotten a lot more interesting, being almost winter out, me wearing gloves now.
Thank goodness I can hold things in my mouth.

If I know somebody doesn't like needles, heck yea I shoot just to hear the noise. ( I am an older brother!)
My daughter every time we go out to eat, she makes the comment "Dad do have to do your heroin here?" She's a waitress and just likes to have fun. I joke back "How many people do you know, that shoot to get low!!

my friends loved me for that. they couldn't stop laughing and i had a HUGE grin on my face while i said it. one of the kids ended up going "i think i hear my mom calling us.." and they booked it down the street. we were sitting outside a sports pub, thats across from a highschool and surrounded by mostly homes and a few businesses, waiting for a cab at like 10pm at night so we could go get more drunk at the bar haha. good times. we still talk about that and it happened about 3 years ago..

haha yes! i do things in front of freinds all of the time just to annoy them becuse they are afraid of needles. and when someone does the "eww thats goes go away" thing, i do it even more!!!
have you ever told your not diabetic sibilings that they need to bolus before eating whats in their hands?? ( i do this all of the time with my brother!!)
i test while using teh bathroom all the time!
ive offered insulin to my friends before... they declined my offer tho. :(
ive also done the test/iinsert your site in front of someone who doesnt like needles thing before. i have a few friendxs who dont like needles at all, so i intentionally poke my finger infront of them. they also dont like it when i like the blood off of my finger tip. either that or i wipe i on my jeans and potentially stain them.
i have inserted my site infront of one of my friends, but she doesnt mind needles.
I so do the bathroom thing!! I've even had it where my pump has fallen in the toilet before! Nasty right?! lol
I tried the grossing people out thing with checking and such, but they only wanted to check their own!! haha
Me and my other diabetic friends joke about "shooting up" and "being high" all the time. Just another thing to try and make diabetes more positive! :)
no, but i was joking about this at my church with some of my friends. this seams like a totaly hillarious idea!!!!<3
You guys are too funny!!!
Kim and krissa
controlling your D while going potty seems like the logical thing to do... you're just sitting there anyway :o)
my brother in law is afraid of needles. i don't do it on purpose, but i change my site or do blood tests in front of him all the time. for so long i've always just done what i needed to do where i happen to be standing, it doesn't occur to me it bothers him.... until afterwards and he's really pale and just standing there. he's a sport about it--never says anything, but the look on his face is always priceless.
never jumped into a pool. though, i can now with the animas. haven't tried it yet. too cold to swim!
i've told people i was shooting up before, but they never believe me. apparently my diabetic reputation precedes me.
have you ever tied a rubber band around your finger then done a blood test on it (while the band is still on there)? blood. everywhere.

Yeah, me too, lol. Ever tried exploding Detachol? Because apparently it's non-explosive but you never know...hahaha.
Have any of you ever refilled your pump reservoir WITHOUT changing the infusion set? (I hope I don't get in trouble for even inferring I ever did such a thing.)
All the time. (=
My reservoir only lasts me about two days, and I don't want to change my site that often, so I almost always change them at different times, unless the days happen to match up.
me too. i just did that the other day. for the same reason. the insulin runs out before it's time to change the pump.
OK. Here's one more. Have any of you ever pierced a friend's ear for an earring with an insulin syringe? (I had a friend who thought I was the best qualified to pierce her ears because I had so much experience piercing myself. She was right. I did a great (painless) job.)
