Diabetes Bummer Days

So, I think we all go through this occasionally, those days where you just think it is the worst thing in the world that you have diabetes. I know that some days, something goes wrong or I have an unhappy high bg and I totally hate the world of being a diabetic and all of the stress and complications that go with it. Buttttt, I always talk myself back into a better mood by reminding myself that it is a part of who I am and I need to accept it and embrace it. Because let's be honest, it does add character :)

Anyway, I'm curious to find out other people's prep talks with themselves. Hopefully, we can all help each other out when we feel bummed about our diabetes. Let's hear some advice from each other :)

I know how you feel. I have sick with the flu for a week know and my BG has been crazy. So on top of being dog sick i have to deal with stuff that other people don't have to when they are sick and it makes me feel that much worse. But i jsut keep and checking and keep bolusing because thats all I can do. I tell myself daily that the effort and work that i put forth today is worth it when i think about the alternative. And that keeps me going. If i didnt work hard then I would be sick and not live a long healthly life.

i can relate to how you feel dear! There are days that sometimes your body just doesnt do what its supposed to, just try and be patient hun, I know it can get so frustrating! So many times I have been brought to tears from it and the question that we have all asked is "why me"? I think this is a normal part of having this unfrotunate illness, I just try and tell myself that it will be ok, I will get my numbers down and back on track.

Don't be too hard on yourself, you are allowed to have some high numbers, your pancreas doesnt work, so just when it gets high give a bolus/shot (I dont know what you are on) and just keep an eye on it, after 20 minutes recheck, I also encourage excercise also when you have a high, I will go for a little walk or do something physical and that usually helps :) I also reccomend drinking a lot of water when you;re high, and daily also, it will keep ketones out of there and keep you hydrated :)

I hope this helped, just remeber you can always vent it out on here, we know what you are going through, and are not alone :) Chin up sweetie :)
