There are “diabetes” events such as walks where you can meet other families living with diabetes; you can find JDRF activities listed under the “Events Tab” at the top of this page and selecting JDRF Near You. While you are on that page, look at the listing of TypeOneNation Summits. The Summits are free day-long events geared to both individuals and families affected by diabetes - many interesting speakers and small workshop sessions as well as representatives from companies specializing in diabetes. I’ve just returned from a Summit - enjoyable and educational for me even though I’m now into my seventh decade living with diabetes.
