Too Long?

Hello Ladies--

I am 9 weeks pregnant and so far, so good. I have the occassional low in the mornings (like I assumed I would) and I get a little nauseous every now and then, but it's been great so far. I am wondering about my 1st prenatal visit. They first scheduled me on December 9th for my first visit, and I was thinking they would want to see me sooner, since I have T1. The OB they have set me up with is very hard to get in and see, so I should be grateful I even got an appointment, but I thought that maybe with my condition they would have wanted me to come in a little earlier than 11 weeks. I don't know, this is my first pregnancy so I have no idea. I've been taking prenatals for over a year. Any suggestions?

I wanted to wait to tell everyone that I am expecting until I hear the baby's heartbeat, and it is SO HARD NOT TO TELL!! People keep asking me, "when are you two going to have a baby?" and the ever dreadful question "have you been trying?". I feel that question is so out of line that it just disgusts me. I just want to shut them all up and say I AM 9 WEEKS PREGNANT, now LEAVE ME ALONE!!! hahahaha The only people that I have told are my parents, my husband's parents, and my best friend....and well, Juvenation I guess.

Thanks for any advice,

Kelly

Hi Kelly!

Congratulations!!!  It is so exciting- I can never wait to tell.  As soon as blood work is back I am a blabbermouth.  LOL

I was very surprised when I didn't see my OB until around 11 weeks too- and the specialist even later yet.  They say it's SO important to keep your BG's good in the first tri, but then no one wants to see your or talk to you about them.  I was on progesterone which totally messed up my BGs and ended up seeing my endo weekly until my maternal fetal specialist took over.  If things aren't running smoothly you could always call your endo in the meantime.  Otherwise it's the waiting game.

If it's any consolation, you will be seeing more than enough of your docs in the 3rd tri. ;)  I love when mine calls me at home and says "Hi, this is Becky." LOL

Congrats!!!

Hey! I am in the same boat. I took a pregnancy test earlier this week because my period was 8 days late. It was positive and I immediately called the perinatal center that my gyno had referred me to along time ago just for future reference. I took 3 pregnancy tests and they were all positive and I was having a bit of insulin resistance last week (which is another reason I took the test). I have yet to be examed just to see how far along I am and ther perinatal center can't see me until a little over 2 weeks. Granted yes 2 weeks isn't that bad, but I feel like I just need to be checked to see how far along I am and to make sure I am doing everything correct. And the first visit is for the nutrition information with the diabetic nurse, then I schedule an exam later. Should I go somewhere else to at least find out how far along I am? This is my first pregnancy and my husband and my best friend are the only ones that know. We wanted to wait to tell our parents after the first visit. Am I overreacting and should just wait?

I’d think two weeks out is fine. Knowing how far along can be found using online tools… They’ll just ask you for first date of last menstrual cycle. Go get yourself a what to expect when expecting, and keep your BGs S tight as possible to 100mg/DL.

(whoops, accidentally submitted that). Try not to worry too much… I’m sure you’ll do great and just

Ugh (stupid phone). hang in there! You’ll be amazed at how much you learn about your body & diabetes during pregnancy. Good luck!
