Hey everyone!
I have wanted to get a few things pierced and a few tattoos but my parent's excuse for not letting me is my diabetes. I want to get one ear pierced all the way down the cartilage and a couple in the other ear.
As far as tattoos, I want them pretty much everywhere. But I am planning on getting one that will take up the whole riht side of my ribs and abs.
What kind of complications, if any, can i get because of my diabetes and what are some precautions can i take?

I was diagnosed shortly after trying to get my cartilage pierced. The day after I got it done, my ear swelled shut. I assume it's from being out of control with the D, but who knows?
I have gotten two tattoo's since I was dx'ed. One is my avatar(medical ID) and one for my granddaughter's birth. I have had no problems and my bs is in good control as my last a1c was 5.7. If you have good control I feel it's OK. Watch out for feet I heard they can take awhile to heal if diabetic. Good Luck!!
Trisha, I have several tattoos but no piercings. I have never had a problem with my tattoos healing. Just keep really tight control and you should be fine. Good luck!

I have one tattoo and 9 piercings. no issues! just clean and take care of everything as directed
You should get a tattoo of a dart-board so you know where to inject, like this guy:

I have each ear peirced a few imes and they're just fine. they healed nicely and I had no problems at all... I even got one set of peircings done for my 5 yr diabetic aniversary. next up is my nose, but i doubt my parents will let me.
