Smoothies

I just got this nifty little blender perfect for making one smoothie at a time. If anyone has a smoothie recipe that you've taken the time to figure the total carbs for, please share. :)

I love smoothies! I can't tell you the exact carb count off the top of my head, but this should be really easy to figure. I use a cup of plain vanilla yogurt, 1 cup milk, and 1 cup frozen strawberries. Obviously this makes three servings. I also like to add some lemonade crystal light mix (just pour in the straight powder) and it makes strawberry lemonade!

ice, raspberries, blueberries and a little pomagranate juice REALLY good :]

Trish,this sounds like a good idea-now I want a blender to make a smoothie too,hahaha :)

Looked at dLife---went to recipes and typed in smoothies-and all kinds popped up and they give carb counts  :)

If you need a low carb. ice cream, I know a really good one. Clemmy's a funny name but the guy was ice cream lover then dx'ed type 2. Came up with name from his cat who helped him. Google it something like 15 carb a half cup I think??? here's link to find it  www.clemmysicecream.com/find-clemmys

don't know the carbs off hand, but it was easy to figure out:

chocolate milk (2 cups I think), 1 banana, peanutbutter (i think it was 1/4 cup, maybe more).

kraft canada has nutritional info for all their recipes:)

at work we demo-ed smoothies all the time. the simplest are fresh or frozen fruit & sugar-free/low-fat yogurt. you can add a weensie bit of juice if it's too thick (it's thicker if you use frozen fruit). i don't know the CHO off-hand, but carbs would vary based on how much you used anyone. would be super easy to figure out!

good luck :o)

C, where do you work? You write about delicious things all the time, and i'm jealous!

Thanks guys. I could have googled it, but I knew you all would come through for me. :) Some yummy suggestions here.

Keith221, how in the world did a cat help with icecream?

C, does it have to be real juice or would Crystal Lite be good?

Good one. :) I just went there and was pleased to find that the saturated fat content is also listed. (Brandan's cholesterol was a tad high when he had his last blood test and I was told to cut back the sat. fat, especially in dairy products.)

i've never tried crystal light before, but it would probably be fine. juice adds a bit of sweetness.

ajax, i worked at hy-vee (local grocery store) as a dietitian assistant. i was in charge of a program that demo-ed healthy meals & snacks. half my day was spent helping clients with different dietary needs and the other half was spent in a kitchen meal planning and making delicious foods for customers to try. (almost) every hy-vee has a dietitian in store. i stopped working at hy-vee last month because i'm now an intern at a hospital so i can be the next hy-vee dietitian :o) i really miss that job. it was a lot of fun.

Trish, are you still making smoothies ? I think I want to buy a blender and try to make them too :)

Smoothies, milkshakes and iced coffee. YUM! I got the blender from QVC.COM for around $22 (I think). It's actually big enough to make 2 or 3 servings at a time. The blender doubles as a mug to drink from, which I do with the iced coffee. Totally worth it. :)
