No mention of Juvenation at a diabetes expo ?!

Today I attended a Diabetes Expo. I was able to get alot of information to bring home and read. It was a good experience overall.

I was very surprised to learn that not one person I spoke to knew about Juvenation. Even the novo nordisk booth didn't have any information about Juvenation available. I would think since they're a sponsor they would want to help get the word out using pamphlets, signs or another type of literature.  Of course I filled them in on how wonderful and comforting this website is for a T1. I always speak very highly of the community and how much it has helped me personally. I would think at a Diabetes Expo there should be some type of Juvenation presence. Maybe a poster or the T-shirts would have been a great idea also.

Any ideas on how we can help spread the word in the most obvious places??

Hi Orange-mms,I have never been to a Diabetes Expo.Would you tell me what all is there? Do you hear of new products etc.Do they  keep type 1 and type 2 separate ? I wish they had told others about Juvenation. Maybe because you shared, next time someone will.

Omg wow.... that is very surprizing. Me and a friend i have met on here think it would be awsome for juvenation to have a convention type thing where everyone on here got together and met in person. Idk how to spread stuff other than make signs or comercials to some how show people in your cities about the site. I love juvenation and it has helped me sooo much. I think we need to find a way to spread the great word about juvenation.

Meme, a diabetes expo is sorta like a convention. Doctors, diabetes educators and nurses were all present yesterday. There are booths related to all types of diabetes care and lifestyles. From healthy eating, exercise, home care, medical supply companies, insulin vendors, pump vendors etc. There is an abundance of information at your finger tips. They had drawings for baskets, baseball tickets and trips. I'm sure each expo has different types of activities. It is very helpful in the process of understanding and living with diabetes. They don't separate T1 and T2 atleast not at the one I went to.

I met a race car driver (Charlie Kimball, he drives for Levemir and is a T1) and got his autograph while I was there. That was really neat. Here's alink to his website http://charliekimball.com/

Below is link to the diabetes website to check for an expo near you.

Hope this helps.

Hi Orange,

I made a flyer that members of juvenation can download and print and gave examples of where you could do that in this post: http://juvenation.org/forums/t/2573.aspx

It takes time for the word to get out there. I mean think about it, how long did it take for myspace or facebook or twitter to gain in popularity? We are a much smaller community to target and word of mouth takes time sadly. I have the flyer myself, yet I don't think to bring them to my doctor or some of the educators I have run into. I keep meaning to but forget. I am sure in the next few years that will change though.

I do know about the flyer, actually I had my endo put one up in her office a few months back. That's what I told my Mom that if I thought there would be no information about Juvenation there, I would have printed a few and taken them with me. If I go again I will take a few just in case. One of the ladies that were there I had dealt with after I was first diagnosed at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. I gave her the website and told her about the flyers that could be printed.
