Mom to 8 year old T1D boy looking for a playmate

Hi All,

I am new to this forum. My son has had diabetes for just over 2 years. I live in Venice Beach and am interested in connecting with another parent of a similar aged boy who may be interested in meeting up. While I have met some fantastic T1D families through Camp Conrad Chinnock, PADRE Foundation and other T1D related events, I would really love to connect with someone locally so we can meet up easily and often if the kids get along. If you know of a boy who is his age in the Venice, Culver City, Playa Vista, Playa del Rey, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades or Westchester area we’d love to be in touch. My son loves legos, basket ball, reading, and is very outgoing. He’d love to make a new friend with T1D!

I’m not local, but when I was young I met one of my best friends through my local JDRF chapter’s events–they used to hold events for families to connect like Halloween parties, ice skating, etc. Does your area have something like that? Or sometimes if you call the local JDRF chapter they can hook you up with others directly who have volunteered to be available to other families. Good luck!
