Meters you use with your pump

Just a curious question, what do you use with your pumps?

I don't have a pump, but its good to see you back on here Greg. (:

It has been quite a while hasn't it :)

I use the one touch ping meter of course! but I did try out the contour usb meter and I liked it a lot. it just doesn't seem worth it to use another meter though since this one is a remote!

i use the one touch ping also. But last night i took my pump off, but didn't take the battery out, so it has been doing it's annoying beeping and vibrating madness (and it's now snuggled quite comfortable in well insulated clothing drawers). My meter was also beeping, like it does, so I took to betteries out and am using a one touch mini.

I have an appointment tomorrow with an NP person in my diabetes clinic who i've never had an appointment with before, and I am interested to see how that goes over "you want to download my numbers? ok, well here's the pump which has about 80% of the time, my CGM which is pretty close to accurate, and my mini meter, which shows the last two days and most of my lows."

One Touch Ultra Link.

I use a few different meters. I was using the ping remote, but I was going through batteries like nothing. So I switched to the Contour USB as my current meter. I love the fact that it recharges. I have switched to doing most of my pump stuff with an audio bolus set at .50 units so I can calculate out things that I needed to easier. There are a few others that I have been toying with, plus I may be looking into a new meter. Greg any suggestions?

the BD unit had probs.  the ultralink is a J&J product, I have 4 lifescan units, including the ultralink

How is the battery life in the Ultralink, since that is what the Ping Meter is. I usually was getting about a month and a half on batteries. It got to be to costly to keep up the batteries for the thing.

seriously...  I have had it for ~3 years and so far never changed the batteries.  my little OT ultra had flat LI+ batteries that lasted for years also.

That's just it, every other meter I have used, the battery life is fine in. This one is just not being fun, so I gave it a nice long time out.

i use the one touch ping meter remote. my meter batteries usually last around 3 months. it's the only meter i use. if i could set it up so i can use multiple meter remotes, i would but since i can't i just use the one. i don't like  having to download multiple meters, especially when you can't interface all the readings together. the CGM and the ping are enough for me.

I started using the Ultralink meter again on Aug. 6th and haven't had to change the batteries yet.  At least it just uses 2 triple AAA batteries as compared to some meters with the more expensive circle batteries.  I had been using the contour meter, because of insurance preference,  and the battery life must last forever in that since I can't recall ever changing the battery.

Not to mention how hard it can be to find those random circle batteries. The only reason I charged the Contour USB I have is because it was down halfway since I bought it well over 6 months ago and I was going away on vacation. Otherwise I bet I could have gotten so much more outta the first charge.

random circle batteries here :(

We use the One Touch Ping meter remote as well. It's so convenient to be able to test and then set her carbs and bolus all at the same time. Love it! The best part is I can test her when she's asleep, it never wakes her. And instead of having to dig around under the covers for her pump, if she needs a correction or needs me to turn down her basal for awhile, I can do it from the remote without waking her.

How often do you use the meter as a remote.  I think it is a cool thing but don't use it that much.  I tend to wear my pump on my belt so it is accessible.  I'm just curious.

We use the meter as a remote all the time. Sarah always tests before she eats, so our procedure goes something like this:

1) Figure out the carbs

2) Test

3) Bolus

4) Eat

So as soon as she finishes testing, she just enters the EZcarb screen and puts in her carbs, hits go - and she's off... :-) She always wears her meter clipped on her pants, so it's not inaccessible, it's just easier to use the remote because it's already in her hand.

C - are you using Duracell batteries?   I'm like Brian and go through a lot of batteries.  I'm changing batteries at least every 3 weeks.
