i use energizer batteries. i've noticed they seem to last a whole lot longer in my medical equipment than any other brand. i also only use the remote if my pump is in my bra or some other not-easily-reachable place.
Man, I used my accu-chek aviva for 10 months and it didn't even occur to me that there are batteries in the thing.. I have always expected it to live forever. Now I'm on the ping remote though.
I use the onetouch ping, but before that I had an accu-chek aviva! I loved that meter! The only thing I didn't like was the calibrating chips you had to put in the side of it, was a pain in the butt. But I used that meter for almost 6 months and never had battery problems.

Do you feel like the ping remote needs more blood than the accuchek and is harder to get your blood to go in it? I've been underestimating how much blood I need to squeeze out for it and sometimes I am like smearing my blood all over the end of the strip before I get it to take some.
Maybe I'm just crazy.

I also have troubles getting my blood to go in the damn strip sometimes! it can be really frustrating and then of course by the time it does finally suck it up there isn't enough blood and you get that damn error!! it makes me so mad haha
I use the OneTouch UltraLink with my MM pump. I've never changed the batteries on any of my current meters. I do know that for whatever reason Duracell batteries don't work well at all in MM pumps (I used one and it lasted a day, I think). Energizers have always worked well for me :)

I do feel like the ping needs more blood and I do occasionally have trouble with it not sucking up the blood. I also hate the onetouch lancets! So I still use my accu-chek lancet!
I hate batteries. My biggest issue some days is aiming the blood. You would think after 15ish or so years I would know how to aim the puddle of blood on my arm and get it to play with the the strips. Yet some days it is not a science. I have been using the contour meter as I said earlier I never really thought about the amounts of blood I use, but I think the Ping uses less then what I tend to use. One I get my hands on both meters I will look into it. I love the weird tests. My favorite one was the day I tested sample accuracy of various meters. That was fun. I went through alot of blood that day.
I use a One Touch UltraLink. I love it too because it sends my blood sugars readings straight to it after checking it.
I use an OneTouch UltraLink with my Minimed Revel pump. Very convenient to have the numbers "sent" to the pump. I sometimes have issues with getting enough blood on the strip - seems it always happens when my blood is high, like it wants to annoy me more :P I've been using the meter for over a year and haven't changed batteries yet!
I did see a commercial on tv for a new meter by FreeStyle which uses a cool look strip. It's supposed to take in the blood sample faster.
