In the day to day of diabetes, one thing that legit grosses me out is
Working in an E.R. makes me paranoid about that.  Whenever I test at work I hold pressure on the spot way longer just hoping that it doesn't stay "open" to the hospital world.
I hear you on this one! When I first started clinicals out here with studyingto be a surgical tech, I freaked out all the time about contact!

I never test my thumb!  I guess I should start, but the thought of it creeps me out for some reason!  Lol

I think it's so funny someone is finally acknowledging that this happens and it's happened to everybody! Haha.

I think it's hilarious when it happens.  It just freaks out my friends if they are around.  They usually hate when I milk my fingers for blood anyways, though.

Yep, this has definitely happened to me, though not that often.  I never thought about the fact that stuff could go through the holes in my fingers...until now.  Eww :P

Im not going too lie... I dont think I have ever tested my thumb after the one time I did... IT HUR FOR LIKE A WEEK!

Im kind of a baby sometimes, lol!

Yeah, I'm a baby about testing in my thumb too.

I think I've done it less than 10 times in 12 years.  I feel like the skin's thicker and more sensitive.

Well, this actually doesn't happen to me; however, I rotate between all 8 fingers so to allow them time to heal.  And by the way, my diabetes educators gave me a free brand new One Touch Delica lancing device that uses the finest lancets on the market.  My old lancing device used 33 gauge lancets, and the delica lancets are substantially smaller, possibly a 35 or even 37 gauge (i'm not sure).  If you ever have pain or very slow healing pricks, I really recommend this device.  See if your doctor or educators have any of the promotional ones that they get, and try it out.  It is also very compact.  After using it for just under a week, I already notice my pricks healing faster with less rough spots and noticeable black dots.  Just a suggestion, I dumped my lancing device that attached to my meter for this one!  So worth it :)

I think it's funny. I actually ask my boyfriend to squeeze my fingers before I put another hole in my finger just in case. haha

My father is also Type 1, and checked his BG one day and when he squeezed his finger blood shot across the kitchen table out of a different hole. It was pretty hilarious.

This is funny, because I have the OneTouch Ping and I actually use my old Accu-Chek lancet which I prefer over the OneTouch lancet. I go to the endo on the 21st I'll have to see if they have any of these new ones.

I've never had a "constellation", but those little black dots make me laugh.  It looks like I have tattooed my fingertips with a secret pattern.  I am also a wimp when it comes to using my thumb.  Just the thought of it is painful.  I alternate between my first two fingers on my left hand.  All other fingers aren't calloused and tough yet, so they hurt for days if I use one of them.

LOL Too funny! The 1st time that happened to me it grossed me out.

Last night...I tested too close to my salad bowl. Well, I must have had the needle too deep & blood squirted onto the counter & "sprayed" my sald bowl and salad. Gross!

Luckily, I live alone & no one saw. If I was in a restaurant I would have totally freaked out.

I really recommend the one touch delica.  It really is "delica"te on your fingers.  I never use my thumbs, as my doctor said they are more sensitive; however, I am able to rotate between all 8 fingers and still play piano, guitar, and oboe daily (but I've slacked a little on the guitar).  On a side note, I think the black dots are amusing as well!

I agree with Ideen. Sometimes, seeing my own blood makes me wanna puke. I have no problems seeing other people's blood, or watching really gory movies, but if I prick my finger and a sloo of blood comes out, my stomach turns and I just kinda say, "Aaaaahhhhh!" out loud. My mom thinks I'm weird :P

Haha it wouldn't let me say PRICK so I'll say POKE

Yes, this happens to me periodically...  Sometimes, though, I can't get any blood, or not enough, because my fingers are a bit calloused from all of the poking.
