My name is Jenn and im a parent of a little 6 year old girl who just got diagosned with T1D in May 2012. We are still having our ups and downs trying to figure all of this out. Im looking forward to connecting with you guys!
Hey Jenn-
Glad you're here. I was diagnosed when I was 4 and am complication-free after 35 years with diabetes.
My son is 6 too but he doesn't have diabetes (thankfully type 1 diabetes doesn't have a strong genetic link). I love 6-year-olds. First graders say the funniest things and are still sweet and let you hug them in public.
Has your daughter had any challenges with her diabetes since going back to school? Frankly, I tend to do better blood sugar wise during the week because my schedule is more set.
Hate to break it to you, but ups and downs are just part of living with diabetes. Variables are always changing. While it can be frustrating at times, it will help your daughter become a quick and creative problem solver. It will probably make her pretty good at math after all the carb counting and calculating insulin on board and all the other fun stuff.
Take care and know you will be okay and your daughter will too. Let us know if you need anything.

Welcome to Juvenation! Glad you found us on here. Hopefully we can be a resource for you and your family :o)
Welcome Jenn my 9 yrs old son was diagnosed almost 3 yrs ago when he was 6. The thing that I have come to terms with is that diabetes is not perfect I don't stress out anymore when my sons bs is too high. I just give him insulin and try to figure out best I can if it was something we could have prevented. And I've gotten lots of good advice on this website.
