So who wants to pig out on cinnamon hearts and chocolate with me??
(if you're thinking about getting pizza tonight, Boston Pizza is donating $1 to JDRF for every heart shaped pizza they sell. I think they are only in Canada though..haha)
today is a good day to love yourself whether you have someone or not. i am not a fan of the gifts and cards and dinner and all that crap. i'm a fan of being guaranteed to get laid, whether i'm single or in a couple, cuz everyone gets horny today =P haha
It's just a stupid day in general. It's a corporate "holiday" created to give a boost in first quarter sales when people are still paying off their credit card bills from their christmas shopping. Makes sense if you think of it that way.
The other school of thought is that this is the day when St. Valentine was killed.

haha so valentine's day is all a corporate, money-driven day...not at all like easter, christmas and every other holiday that involves cards, candy, gifts and forcing people to get together =p
if you hate vday, you gotta hate every other holiday. and i actually do. the only thing i actually like about the holidays is 1) candy, 2) excuse to get drunk, 3) candy.
most holidays started off with an actual reason ("jesus" was born, saint valentine, "jesus" came back to "life", etc) but they are all corporate, money-driven holidays in today's society. you hate one for those reason, you gotta hate them all.
i agree with you guys. this day is created so that people will spend more money, so that couples can fight, and so that us single people feel lonely. hahha. but i do love myself and thankful for that :D
Hence why I love Thanksgiving. I would argue that Thanksgiving is the least of the corporate holidays. No gifts, cards, candy, ect. Just pig out and unbutton your pants. I suspect this is why it is being skipped over and many stores go straight from Halloween to Christmas.
Also, March 14th (I don't think it would be appropriate to post the holiday that takes place on that date) is a fine day as well. Google it on your own if you want to find out.

I guess I should have been a little more clear. Its just another excuse to pig out and unbutton your pants. And by pig out I mean on good home cooked food, not doritos.
Being the low-carber that I am - forgive me for being a distribution point for said chocolates and cinnamon fun, rather than a consumer...
Hmm - if only i had someone in Canada to send a Pizza to...
and for the complaining lot, i will offer this thought:
I believe any excuse to celebrate life, love and those close to us is an excuse I will gladly seize - and if the hucksters who think they are swindling me are spending their time counting worth of money rather than warmth from relationships... i don't think i'm losing - even if i've spent a few dollars through the course of the transaction...
i hope all of you find your smiles and reasons for same today - and really most days (yes - even if it's at my expense :P )
Everyone is so negative today! haha. The consumer part is definitely true, but holidays are nice for celebrating family and friends. Plus we get to be distracted from our typical lives by all the holiday commotion. At my school, you can buy people "singing valentines," and chorus members of the opposite sex come to your classes and sing to you. Ironically, I have scarlet fever so I couldn't even go to school today, but it's always been pretty funny.
i hated vday in school, i think the worst thing they have done is made it so after like grade 5 or so, you don't have to give EVERYONE a card. some people are completely left out on vday in junior high and highschool.
I can taste the bitterness. Singles awareness day? I feel like that is everyday I go without having a girlfriend. Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I can still love despite my extreme singleness.
