My 16 yr I’d daughter is a well regulated Type 1 for over 10 years (average A1c below 7). Over the last 2 years she is complaining of chronic nausea. We tested her for Celiac and Gastroparesis but everything is working normally. I have heard GERD is often seen in Type 1. Has anyone had experience with these complaints and found any relief in any types of treatments or medications?
I had a terrible case of GERD. I took prescription strength Prilosec everyday for 8 months and it resolved. But it took about 2 weeks or so on the medication to see relief. I had pain, nausea and regurgitation after eating some foods. I feel sympathy, it was bad

I also have problems with digestive/acid. I take prescription strength Zantac. Also not to worry you at all but I’m literally going through this right now. Has your daughter been looked at for an ulcer at all? I’m not a doctor at all or suggesting she has one but naseau with pain under my rib turned out to be an ulcer so just a thought!
For acid reflux though Zantac has helped me along with staying away from things that produce a lot of stomach acid like broccoli, chocolate and caffeine.

Have you seen a gastroenterologist about this? If it is GERD, there are 6 or more proton pump inhibitors (PPI’s), Protonix, Prilosec, Nexium, Dexilant, Aciphex, Prevacid and so on to help put out the fire. They are each a little different and may or may not work for your daughter so try the next one if one doesn’t help out. 5 of the 6 above did not work for me. PPI’s affect calcium absorption and your daughter is young, please consult your doctor about how to address this.
The quickest relief I have found to compliment the PPI’s is Gaviscon Liquid. It is available at most pharmacies and grocery stores. It is a liquid miracle for me.
I’ve been Type 1 for 55 years and have had GERD the past 20 or so.

Yes seen gastroenterologist with a specialization in gastroparesis at Mnt Sinai Hospital in NYC. Thank you, we have not tried Gaviscon.
