ive been on th omni pod for a while & i love it. i went from having to do 12 shots every three days to only doing one!! there are many pros to it but there is also some cons. if you have nay questions just ask(:

I just started it after 81/2 years of shots. I love it so far.
Pros: fewer shots, much more accurate bolusing (up to 0.05 units can be delivered opposed to syringes or pens while have 1 unit increments), much easier to use (more discreet, no need to expose skin in public and give a shot), less stress having to calculate insulin doses (you put in the grams of carbs you are eating and it calculates for you!!)
Cons: goes off in metal detectors (I travel a lot so this is a concern for me), sometimes visible under clothes (this is a con if you are really self conscious about your diabetes like I am), can occasionally clog up and you don't realize your insulin isn't being delivered until you have a huge blood sugar spike (which can also happen when using pens/syringes too)
Other things you might not realize: you can shower or swim with it, you can sleep with it on (I sleep on my stomach and wear it on my stomach and it hasn't bothered me yet), you can play most sports with it on and not have to worry about it ripping out like some of the traditional pods.

thx sooo much!!! another question:: im skinny and tall and dont have much fat, i mean i have fat, but hardly... is the omnipod right 4 me? (will it hurt to put the omnipod on? and will it show through clothes too much??)

The will it hurt and how much thing I will leave to others, as I'm not usually a good source of information there... I know I get little stingers sometimes with some of my back sites, and if I bat it around like a cat toy, I can trigger the stinging sensation (keep trying to figure out what causes it because the back sites are the only ones that cause it) but overall, I've found it quite comfortable.
Insulet/Omnipod will send you a free demo pod which will give you the best insight about whether the "show through" factor is acceptable to you. As for whether either the insertion or wear will be an issue, they have a 45 day money back guarantee and I think if you decide you can wear it, you should be able to to determine whether it is comfortable and pain free inside that time frame.

Definitely contact them for a demo. I ordered mine and it came about 2 days later. As to whether it will hurt. It does sting for a second when the cannula goes in, but then you can hardly feel it at all and it doesn't hurt at all when you tell it to send you some insulin. So one tiny sting once every 3 days or 4-5 possible painful injections each day. At least that's how I chose to look at it!! Also some people with sensitive skin will find that it hurts when you peel off the expired pump. But try using some baby oil to soothe your skin while you're taking it off.

i tried the demo (on my stomach) and it was o.k. ill just have to hide it under my clothes, haha. but i still dont know if it will hurt to put the needle in. here's why im having a hard time:
im skinny w/ not a lot of fat, so will it hurt to put the needle in?
should i look for another pump, or is this one o.k?

My recommendation, for what little it may be worth is this: Narrow your options down as much as possible and then go on a trial of one system or another. The Omnipod has a 45 day money back guarantee so you can go on it and return the unit if it doesn't work for you. I think you will likely find the insertion doesn't hurt more than a shot and it only happens once every 3 days...
