I used up my Flex Pen during breakfast and got my new one out of my backpack (I had it in there in case I ran out at school). I put my brand new needle on and tested it, and nothing came out. I continued to test my other four pens in the fridge... all with new needles and none of them worked! After about ten minutes of freaking out, I tried again, dialing up to 20 and then it worked after I pushed the dial down 1 unit. Does anyone know why my pens wouldn't work?
I'm not sure if this is what is happening to you, but I remember having to do several (4 or so) air shots to get the insulin flowing in our pens. Maybe that will help?
I find that you usually have to prime the pens - this just means that there is a little bit of space between the insulin cartridge and the dosing button. Totally normal! It usually takes 5 to 10 units to get working well, but make sure to prime them every time you use them or you'll miss your dose and go high!
