Days like these i dont understand myself

I have a long story that tells my history with diabetes. Some of you know this story and if u dnt and would like to im def willing to share so just ask :)

After everything ive done to my self with diabetes i still have days where i sit on the computer or in my room or with friends and feel my pump vibrating telling me to check my blood sugar and i just ignore it and minutes later i catch myself ignoring it and falling into the same thing i used to do and i dnt want to go back to those ways.

I just dont understand why i do this when ik that if i end up skipping im just gonna end up in trouble and get noting good from it....

I would like to hear your story. Old ways are hard to change, but you catch yourself. That's a good start, you can do it as you are worth so much. Wishing you the best!!!!

I know that feeling.  I highly recommed the book Diabetes Burnout.  It is by there American Diabetes Association.  they sell it on their website.  It is the best book to help you figure out why you ignore things like testing and help you over come it.  I used to do that all time...now that i have continous glucose sensor i only test about 3 times a day so i dont ignore it as often.  definately check out this book though its an easy read and really makes sense!!

Aw Amber...hang in there. I know it can be hard and rough and I know I go threw the same thing all the time. I will hopefully be going on the pump one day this week, since last week didn't work out, and I was sitting in my room doing my lantus and novolog since I'm doing lantus twice a day until I go on the pump and I just didn't want to do it. I know several times last week with the exception of Thanksgiving I don't think I tested but maybe 3 times a day. It has me worried because I'm being extremely careless eating whenever, whatever and not even thinking about bolusing or correcting the high later on. But stay strong, I know you can do it!!! :)

Keith! Id be more than happy to share my story! Alot of people have asked for me to shar e so i think later tonight im going to write it and put it into a forum for all to see....

Can't wait to read it.

dont be hard on youself, diabetes is a full time job of course your going to feel that way!... especially when you are a teen i think most T1;s go through their greatest struggles during that time.. I dont even like to think of how horribly i took care of myself, seriously! But I do feel that you grow out of it.. i really do feel like after you pass that whole phase its like you just mature and want to be healthy etc.. and even then you will still have your moments.. theres nothing anyone can say, if your going to change it will come from within but continue to vent and surround yourself with support..read books maybe try to meet others in your area with T1....  its the greatest help! :)

and i too want to read your story!

I know exactly what you are feeling. I know that I'm supposed to take care of myself and test and take my shots, but sometimes it seems so hard. I have no idea why that is.I'm still slightly new to diabetes, not even a year yet, and I feel like I let everyone down when I don't take responsibility and do what I need to, but it seems so much easier to forget and ignore than to do. I would also love to hear your story.

IM going to start typing my story tonight and hopefully finish! I know i said i was gonna do it lastnight but i got to bussy and ya u know how that goes! So i will def work on it tonight and hopeflly get it done tonight or tomorrow! Soo be on the look out :)

You can do it Amber!  My motivation for dealing with diabetes is that I want to be healthy and not die early because of complications, (great thoughts, right?)  We all have our bad days but the more you check and bolus, etc. the more used to the routine you will become and the more diabetes will be able to blend into the rest of your life as a smaller piece.  It's a rough road to get there but once you're on it, it will get easier!  (Sorry if I seem like a stupid machine because that's how I feel writing this...)

I want to read your story, too :)

Your advice is great and way to rally there Katie.  However its never as easy as its written  I still dont test when i should and i only have to poke 3 times a day with my sensor.  I got a book from the ada that i mentioned in my earlier post.  Its called Diabetes Burnout and it is a wonderful help.  I'm going to re read it again.  i highly recommend it for ne you need som supp and ideas of why this is happening
