Does anyone have any suggestions for finding a babysitter that can handle managing diabetes? My mother in law is currently the only person who lives in our area that knows how to manage our 5 year old other than us, and we can’t continue to ask her to watch him every time we want to go somewhere. Any suggestions would be great. We live in the Pittsburgh area.
Hi Katie @Katie5, you might be able to find a babysitter through one of the JDRF Chapters in your area and by attending some of the activities and networking.
I’m aware of some of the families in my area who share some of this type of advice and look after each other’s kids. Also there may be a teen - young adult section of the Chapter where you could find someone experienced with their own diabetes if you were looking for help after school or evenings / weekends.
