I LOVE MINI MED!!!!

While I appreciate your ability to do math, the information I provided was directly from the manufacturers. Printed out and copied verbatim.
Tech support representatives don't necessarily know the algorithm of the product but rather how to troubleshoot problems.
I'm wondering why you are bound and determined to find fault in my posts? This forum is not intended to quarrel but to provide support to one another. Lets keep it that way.

That's what's so funny about it. Joe is awesome. His comments make me smile. You're too defensive and you can't stop. You dug your own hole. You have a superiority complex. Here, maybe this will help... You're "right". Feel better? I know I do,I haven't laughed so good in a while. Just remember that any mistakes and misinformation is "everyone else's fault".

[/quote]it's simply because you were wrong when you copy "verbatim" and then append an incorrect statement as if it were from the manufacturer. I know the difference because it's my day job to be an instumentation expert. When you post incorrect information that could influence a readers decision process, or bias them, I am compelled to reply. you have stated that Minimed is shady and misleading... then you come up with incorrect stuff that I find misleading and shady! Stop posting misinformation and I swear I'll never bother you again.
Don't get me wrong, I am so very pleased that you are completely off the "Ping has continuous basal rate infusion" issue... and we woulda been done completely, but, (sorry) more incorrect info came up, and yes I am compulsive, but I need to set the record straight.
I didn't think you'd believe me when I demonstrated the differences, esp after the last go-round of posts... that's why I asked you [everyone reading] to call tech support. When I call minimed, I can get directly to their engineering department when I need to. Last year I called them regarding XP Class I Division II explosion proof ratings for the pump, and they got right back to me.

is not what it says in the tech specs., it's what you said, and it is incorrect. it's nothing personal, im a geek.
ps
I love the ping. it's a great machine. either pump beats the heck out of the alternative, imo, for me. we still have a long way to go and many advances to make in instrumentation, but I am profoundly grateful for J&J and Medtronic.
I have had both the Animas 1250 and the Minimed Paradigm. My 5 year old has the Animas Ping.
Through these years I have some positives and negatives about each from a personal experience, not a complete reflection on either company or brand.
Animas Ping
(+)
1) The remote bolus gives us wiggle room with our wild 5 year old. As long as he's in the "vacinity" we can get him insulin.
2) The backlight is wonderful. It is highly visible and readable, both day and night.
3) This one is double edged. Animas used to be a small company with amazing service. Then, they went to a mega corp. of Johnson and Johnson and lost a bit of the service they used to have.
(-)
1) For me, the reservoir is too small. I use up to 100 units per day, which only gives me 1.5 days before a set change. I can squeeze 186 units into the reservoir if I pre-fill the tubing before loading it.
2) The OneTouch Ping remote is extremely hard to tune in the bolus numbers. It goes up very slow (.5 units per push) and if you hold until the fast numbers start it shoots way past my target bolus. I can NOT fine tune it and both my wife and I have trouble each time we bolus my son.
3) I originally bought my 1250 under assumptions that the reservoir held 300 units and was waterproof. That was the reason I switched. Neither of which was a true statement. After I bought the pump I received a company letter claiming that the 1250 is no longer considered waterproof. I got it wet in the Florida Keys for less than 2 seconds. They wouldn't send me another one to the hotel we were staying at so I had to wait until I got to my home, 5 days later. (It was lucky I accidentally brought my sons bottle of Lantus, before he was on the pump.)
Minimed
(+)
1) The CGMS is a very nice addition to controlling BG. I don't think I'd use it 24/7 but to have it to test basals at periodic intervals would be a very good thing.
2) The software works better at my doctors office.
3) Even with my Animas I am still using the Minimed's velcro sports belt to hold my pump.
4) The 723 gives me a reservoir with 300 units.

None right now. I did have some complaints with my older Paradigm, like small reservoir, short battery life, hard to see screen and not waterproof.
I will be getting the Paradigm revel very soon.
Love my Ping. It does not run constantly, as stated previously. Hope that doesnt stir up anything unnecessary.
