Transitioning from high school to college is hard enough for normal, full pancreas functioning people; what about us diabetics? Any tips on making the transition easier? I’m also concerned about being able to pay for medical supplies and fitting in going to the endocrinologist into the new schedule. Basically all the normal stuff but on the adult do it yourself level.
Tell your roommates and your RA that you have diabetes and how to help you if you have a low blood sugar. Paying for medical supplies with school is tough. I didn’t go to the doctor much in college because it was so expensive. Try to sponge off your parents if they’ll let you and take advantage of diabetes scholarships because most are only for diabetics who are traditional aged college students.
Thanks:) I’ll definitely look for diabetic scholarships @jennagrant
