Stem Cell Research Executive Order FTW haha

The President just signed an executive order to start federal funding of stem cell research, among other things. One of my favorite paragraphs from the post (other than stem cell research):

That is why today, I am also signing a Presidential Memorandum directing the head of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to develop a strategy for restoring scientific integrity to government decision making.  To ensure that in this new Administration, we base our public policies on the soundest science; that we appoint scientific advisors based on their credentials and experience, not their politics or ideology; and that we are open and honest with the American people about the science behind our decisions.  That is how we will harness the power of science to achieve our goals – to preserve our environment and protect our national security; to create the jobs of the future, and live longer, healthier lives.

You gotta love presidential speeches.  They are full of providing answers to those that dont listen.  Honestly, what de he tell people?  All I see is that he is shuffling the administration a bit more...  It doesnt mean that any actions in stem cell research is ever going to take place.

Very true, he has a great skill to make his speaches sound like he is saying so much that will benefit us all!

Unfortunately, if someone were to acutally look into stem cell research they would find that the most significant breakthroughs have been with adult stem cells, not embryonic. The future of 'curing' diabetes has the best chance with manipulating adult cells injecting genes, therefore allowing them to renew and multiply, and that is where the effort should be placed.

They always talk in circles you don't know whether to clap, cry or be mad.

haha...I havn't heard it put better for quite some time!
