RIP Rex :(

Lauren, I'm curious about the death-by-sweat thing for pumpers; I read that in your post the other day, and, this was seriously the only thing running through my mind when my pump quit yesterday. I'd just recently completed an intense work out for the 3rd day in a row, complete with sweat, and I'm seriously contemplating the possibility that this is what did him in.

how would sweat kill your pump?

Not sure, but I was basing that thought off something Lauren posted to Juvenation. If you think about it, it makes sense. The Paradigm 722 isn't water proof as far as I know, so if sweat gets inside it or whatever, that thing is done. I would assume.

Sorry for your loss Alyssa. I went through this about two months ago when my Buddy gave out on me. I had to take regular insulin every two hours for two days. It sucked. I hope that you get a new pump soon. I do understand the sentimental attachment to your first pump though. When my first pump died I cried. I had it for four years, pretty much all through high school.

Sorry about this Alyssa! Where should we send cards and flowers? (: Juvenation should add an "obit" area! Gina???

LOL, you guys are cracking me up! Send cards/flowers here, to this post :P

I am very sorry for your loss...hopefully Rex is in pump heaven and is flying around dripping little drops of novalog amongst the clouds... haha I can just see it: a pump with little wings and the tube hanging from it.

I'm not gonna lie, I skipped through a lot of the comments so I'm not sure if any of this has been mentioned before...but I have an animas pump (I know, I'm a loser) and I was informed when mine broke at the beginning of the summer that if you are going to wear it in the water, you have to change the battery cap every three months. pretty lame considering I wasn't aware of this until it was too late!

I'm suprised that you didn't get lantus though since that is what my Dr. has me do, but  maybe its better that way? That would make sense to try to keep your routine as similar as possible (meaning just novalog) All I know is that when my pump breaks--which is at least twice a year--My sugars are always super high and won't ever go down no matter how hard I try to control it and I'm wondering if it's because I use lantus and novalog as my back up plan...hmmm...

As for names....is it a boy or a girl? boy: Baxter girl: Zenon!

Pumps, to me, equate to "he", ha ha. So definately a boy pump :P he will be blue.

I didn't have Lantus in the house, and it happened at like 2 am, so no pharmacies were open. The hospital put me on the dumb injection routine until I could get lantus, just copying basal really.

Here are some flowers. I hope Rex can see them from pump heaven!

LOL! This is why I love Juvenation!

Haha! I just had to post some flowers. Lol. I like Juvination because there is always someone that will cheer you up when something is bothering you or in your case your pump dying! lol. Like they say in High School Musical were all in this together! :) (that was so random). lol.

I love how you guys can take a really bummer situation and make me laugh and smile so hard the entire time ;)

Just doin my job! lol. Haha! I don't have a job. Well at least I don't think I do. :~P

So you have the flowers, the condolences, and color. Now you need the chocolate. I would wait on that until things get a little settled but what a way to test (insert name here). I can also suggest Bob but that's cause the name Bob goes both ways.

Yay, Brian <-- see? I can be supportive :P

Hehe! The name Cedric stands out to me for some reason. Hehe. I don't know why. lol.

Lol, yes... yes you can be. Now you just need a name. Maybe Pat or Fluffy!

(=

Hmm...names. How about...Larry? Or George?

Again with the laughs :) You guys are awesome!

Rex is the name of the robot-host from Star Tours in Disneyland, CA. Googling other robots from the park today, I'm considering: Asimo, and Tom (as in Tom Morrow - from Innoventions :) )

And then the talking trash can, Push - not on the list for name possibilities, but it does make me laugh.

And then my dad suggests Rajeeb.... :P

hey guys ! I don't mean to 'steal the thunder' or anything...I'm loving this !!! but If you have time....would u kindly look at my post called "discrimination and being proactive (and other questions)"??? I have a school project that I need help with ... I want our diabetic voices to be heard!!

Now on with the laughter :-D When is the funeral service?
