The pump should not set things off. On my last trip out of the airport my pump did set it off and I went through the entire pat down process. My sensor when they wanded me went off too. But the people were very nice and understanding. It was not until later that I realized that the clip was what set it off. I had the Paradigm pump which uses a plastic clip, but the Ping uses a metal clip and I forgot about it. On my return trip I went through with no problems at all.
