Hi. I just found out I am pregnant (planned) & I love to exercise. I am 29 years old & only 4 weeks along. I love to run 5-7 miles every other day & am having an AWFUL time controlling my blood sugar. Has anyone else had this problem?? I am trying to see a gyno specialist in type 1 but cannot get an appt until 10 weeks. Are they crazy?? Its almost like my insulin isn't even working. I would love to talk about this problem with anyone who has gone through this already. I am trying to get on a pump but have been fighting with my insurance for the past 3 months. Please help :)
Any other pregnancy do's or don'ts---please share!
I just saw my endo yesterday because me and my husband are actually going to try to have a baby. I'm am currently looking at getting the Medtronic Minimed Revel system pump and my insurance is going to cover everything except $2000, which is quite expensive still! My Dr. said that if she wrote it off as being an emergency neccesity and told them I was trying to concieve or if I actually were pregnant then the insurance company should push it and if we were pregnant they would most likely give me the cgm for free. I don't know what insurance you have, but I have bluecross blueshiel federal. ALSO I have been talking to a Medtronic representative and they have great financing plans available. If you don't already I would keep a log of all bloodsugars before and after you eat and during the specific times of the day that they are uncontrollable, this way when you do see the doctor they already have all the information they most like are going to tell you they want you to go home and gather for them. I work out about 3 times a week and my endo said the pump and cgm is also great for exercising because you can decrease the amount of insulin going into your body at certain times. Good luck with your pregnancy!
Wow! I'm impressed that you have so much energy in the first trimester. One of the early indicators I had that I was pregnant was almost falling asleep on the treadmill at the gym. Didn't get back to exercising until 2nd trimester.
Think the shots are causing most of your frustration. Keep fighting with insurance company about the pump. It will make huge difference through your pregnancy and allow you to keep really tight control.
