fyi...I'm on the Medtronic CGM and I leave my sensor in for 6 days+. Once I get the "sensor end" alert, I just re-start as though I have a new sensor, but it's still the same one. It actually seems to be more accurate the longer it's in.
I do that too (6 days). The medtronic CGM is just not that reliable or that comfortable. It seems to be more accurate after I have worn it three days. That is all I am saying. Plus I use the tape to help hold it on and it always leaves a bit of blood taped to my body. Very attractive (NOT!)
I had a Mini Med pump for 13 years and just last may got an Animas One Touch Ping.
Hi Jessica,
My 7-year old son is set to start on the OmniPod this evening and although I'm excited about him moving from daily injections to the pump, I'm also nervous. Really, I'm just hoping it goes well and does what they claim it does which is "to make diabetes a lesser part of your life." Now that you've been on it for a few months, I'd love to hear how you're doing. Any tips/tricks you can share?
My daughter (10 years old) just started on a Medtronic Veo Paradigm. We are loving it. She loves that she only has to be "poked" once every three days rather than the 4-5 times with injections. I can't believe how stable it keeps her sugar levels. Plus, meals are snap! She had a cold this week, and her highest glucose was 16 mmol/L (only once!). AND no ketones the whole illness. Very impressed with the insulin pump.
Medtronic Minimed Rocks!
Hi odogg31,
Sorry if this reply was a little late. I recommend that he takes a shower or bath before he changes the pod, if he doesn't already do that. The pod might not stick quite as well if he doesn't. Other than that, he's probably fine.
MM Paridigm. Today, my pump failed for the first time in 12 years. New one on the way. Bumber, I Medtronic was on a role.
Was on the Deltec Cozmo for 7 years until they discontinued it. Now I'm on MM Paradigm (2 years now) and still hate it! But I suppose I prefer it to any other pump. I'm just Deltec spoiled. :(
I am new to this group. I have had a minimed pump for over 7 years, was mostly happy with the actual function, but don’t like the difficulty of reading the screen and the monitor (no backlight). I also don’t find their software very helpful. Anyway, yesterday after a BS of 20 (not having had a bolus for over 3 hours), my insurance decided I need a new one. I would like to change to the Ping, partly because the screen seems so much easier to read. Has anyone had experience with both, and have opinions on which is better? Thanks!
Just started on the Accu-Check Combo. Adjusting to the pump is a challenge.
Medtronic Minimed 724 - and a CGM system. LOVE BOTH. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Hey everybody,
I promise this is not spam!
I am a freshman Nursing student working in my Entrepreneur class to design, develop, fund, and market a new insulin pump. Essentially, I want to start my own medical supply company dedicated to the service of those living with Diabetes. So, I am reaching out to anyone who has or knows somebody that has Type-1 or Type-2 Diabetes. I am working with mechanical engineering students and entrepreneur professors to create this new insulin pump. However, I need feedbacks from diabetics who truly struggle and preserver with this every day!If you could, please take this survey or pass it along to people you know with diabetes who may be interested in answering a few questions!
Thank you so much.
