My daughter has worn the Omnipod since June of 2008. She was diagnosed in April of 2008 and was part of a study for the Omnipod. We ABSOLUTELY love it and the freedom it offers her. My husband is a RN and has researched options for our daughter...the Omnipod was the best for our lifestyle. My daughter plays competitive soccer, baths, swims, and it a typical teenager with her Omnipod pump. Also, our insurance coverage with the pump is awesome. I did have a problem with always running out of pumps before the next shipment arrived but the customer service is outstanding and contacted our dr to up the amount of pods we receive each time. We even named our JDRF walk team after the pump.... Anna-Claire's Pod Squad !
I need suggestions on where I should wear it. I only like wearing it on my arm so far. I always feel it and it gets in the way of waistbands if I wear it on my stomach or back. So please give me some tips. Thanks!
I'm switching my daughter and I to the Pod when they come out with the next generation later this year or beginning of next. It's going to be 1/3 the size of the current one. If you call Omnipod they will send a test pump for you to use (just adhesive no needle part). I ran, swam, to a long warm bath, rock clikbed and it didn't come off. It bothered my daughters skin so we are waiting for a smaller adhesive area on the newer pump. Insurance should cover the pump. My friends haven't had issues with supplies coming or not working.
