im getting a cgm for the first time on the 7th of August, im super active and am wondering if there are anythings that i should be aware of that can effect the cgm and my activness. any tips on exercise and the cgm would be great:) thanks!
which brand are you using? I can only answer for the Medtronic one. I would say that it is most accurate on days 2-4, so if you have a big athletic event, I would time your insertion accordingly. I love mine!
im getting the Dexcom one. i have a few friends that say that they are too big, versus the other brands. how bigs the mini med?
Are you talking about the size of the needle or the transmitter?
The size of the needle is pretty big. To me it appears to be the size of a swizzle stick :P, but it really isn't that big. It's certainly smaller than the needle used for bloodwork. The needle is extremely beveled, so I haven't had a painful insertion yet. The transmitter is slightly larger than a quarter. I love that it is integrated into my pump.
Good luck with your Dexcom!
the transmitter, and do the pump and the cgm work well together? since its two separtate sensors.
and thanks!
I think it does. I do notice that if I don't keep my pump somewhat near (as in the same side of my body) as the cgm sensor, I get a weak signal warning. It's not often, but it does sometimes happen when I'm sleeping and my pump shifts to the opposite side of the cgm site.
I just got the dexcom a week ago. I am wondering how to use it longer than the 7 days. I know you can. Just not sure how to. Is there a trick? Do I just stop sensor and start. (As if I put a new one in?) Do I need to stop? Or will it run out of time?
