Hey i was going to get the flu mist at school so i was standing in line and i finally got to the front and its an open thing, like everybody can see u and everything. So i'm sitting there and they're like so have u gotton the mist before and i'm like yup. Then they looked at my paper and they're like oooooohh! ur diabetic! then she called the other girl over, then the other girl over, and they were talking quietly and everybody was looking at me... it was so embarasing... i'm the only diabetic in the school... so yeah really nobody else understands... so anyway haha y do we need the shot why cant we get the mist?
i think the mist is less effective and doesn't work on everyone or something
i think (i could be making this up) that is has something to do with suppressing the immune system and also possibly making insulin less effective.
sometimes, i'm a liar. this may be one of those times.
haha is this true or are u guessing haha because this would make sense...
Like C, I'm willing to venture a non-expert guess. I recall hearing something about the mist and shot having different amounts of live/dead cultures, or a risk of catching the actual flu from the mist was greater.
that's what i heard. it may or may not be true :o)
now ur just confusing
wait mist shot for what?
instead of a flu shot, it's a flu mist. they spray it up your nose.
im guessing that feels as bad as shoving a stick up your nose to see if you have the swine flu... ughh it gives me the chills
Frankly I feel at times Flu Shots are over rated. I can't remember where I read it, maybe my doctor's office, but the shot tends to be more effective than the mist. I found this on the flumist web page in the FAQ. it lists us under people who may not be elligible to recieve the mist.
Our doctor gave us the choice for my D son. Said both were equally effective, but I opted for the shot, because I know how he hates having stuff sprayed up his nose! (And I shared the vague sense of C and Brian that the spray is not as good, even though he was telling me it was.)
I have a slight feeling that spraying something like this up your nose is like when you inhale soda, and that horrible burning sensation? Bad!
People take nasal spray all the time and don't really complain about it. I for one don't like things shoved up my nose. I went to an ENT once for some ear related issues. She noticed that the dry heat had dried out my nasal passages when she was doing the exam. So the decides to fix the problem by shoving vaseline up my nose, with no warning. After that experience my nose is a no touch zone.
I don't really like things up my nose either! I'd rather get a shot than something up my nose!
really its not that bad, and there is no burning haha pop? wow... haha jezz its nothing like pop its a medicine
C,
That just made me laugh.[quote user="C"]

I would have to agree with you too which makes us both liars!
