I think that this is different from Facebook in that we're here by a common ailment. Here I'll friend people who I have discussions with or who I just enjoy reading their thoughts etc. It's just different in a good way. I won't randomly friend ppl on Facebook.

I'm not offended at all by people who friend request me on this site. I even request people on this site based on things they've said, like you. I just found it interesting that we don't even think about it when we add friends on Juvenation, whereas on Facebook, I don't add anyone I don't know personally. I'm all for new friends on Juvenation. (=
regardless of whether or not you add people on here in a beat of a second as oppose to facebook, it's always good to be cautious. i agree with pat, that it's easier on here due to the element of all of us being T1 or the parent of a T1 kid.
you're given the choice to give out information, and for kids..i would hope they aren't giving out the wrong info! so it's your responsibility to make sure that strangers you do or don't accept as friends on here, don't have personal information like your phone number, etc...regardless of how you feel about it.
sites like these always have those random friend adds, i think i've only talked to a handful of my friends list in a forum thread or conversation..but i see no reason to decline anyone.
profiles are public(unless under..what 18??), so it's good to think about things like lurkers and remember they can see your profile and whatever information you put on there.
as for people with underage friends..i think it's okay to an extent. i think there are boundries that need to be kept an eye on in any case, but i think gina has done a good job with that and i don't think anyone here(that i've seen) is going to cross that line.
