My 15 yr old son was at the first open gym of the season for basketball…the head coach knows he is a diabetic but obviously one of his assistants didn’t yet and my son was low and was sitting on the sideline drinking a juice box and the one assistant coaches came over and said “juice box really?” And my son said "diabetic-low, really!!"
The coach felt so bad but my son just laughed and took it all in stride.
Love those moments…I have to remind myself that people don’t know what they don’t know, so like it or not, we are ambassadors for this disease. Some people still don’t get it even when you try to educate them, but most are usually appreciative to learn more about it. Your son is a cool kid.
