I was just think about this

I was just thinking about this...Today I had a docter appt, my A1C was 6.8 and my BG's were with in range all day. I was thinking that when I (or other people) are stressed that would make my BG's higher than my range. Like today I was most of the day and I was not with my brothers. Aaron had school and Josh was sleeping. So it was just my mom and dad and me. I guess what i am saying is that. Would stress have something to do with higer BG'S? Like if I would get into a fight with my brothers Josh or Aaron That would make me to have higher BG'S than I would if i would not, get in a fight with them. Right?

Yes or at least that is what we were told. Like Riley runs higher at school partly because she is more stressed there than at home. Also one night she had been great number wise all day and it was just before dinner she got a flying wii fist to the head and she spiked high for no other reason than getting upset.

That is what I was thinking becuause when I am not with my brother's i am ok but when I start to get stressed about something I will go higher than what my Range is which is 80-120

yes stress can raise blood sugars by releasing other chemicals in the body that effect sugars.  Finding ways to alleviate stress are important in managing this disease......not that i or my son have victory in that area ....we are learning all the variables that cause hypo and hyperglycemia...great question!!!!!         Great a1c... Your doing a great job Jaimie!!!!!

In my case, I know that stress does indeed raise my BGs.  In my job, I have to give a lot of presentations to groups of people, some that I know and some strangers.  I have found that I always get stressed about these presentations, especially at the beginning, then i calm down.  So, this is where my pump comes in handy.  I set up a temporary basal:  about an hour before the beginning time, I increase my basal by 20%, lasting for two hours.  After my presentations, I always do a BG ASAP, and I am usually within target range.

Stress definitely raises my blood sugars.  My husband, who is also a type 1 diabetic, is always telling me I need to relax and deal with stress better.  I'm working on it and it has definitely helped my numbers.

Stress really messes me up. When I'm in school my sugars are all over the place but when it's break they are fine. Don't you just hate stress? lol. :)

When doctors, etc tell me to reduce my stress to lower BG's, I always want to scream, "It's the D that's causing my stress!" LOL. Obviously, this isn't completely true, but it def causes stress in my life...

I agree.  When I am stressed, I feel like my sugar is gonna blow through the roof.  It is so much harder to manage when I feel overwhelmed with work, school, kids, or just life in general.  Glad to know it's not just me.  :D

stress does it for me too! exam time is always rough.
