I hope they are in an insulin induced coma right now

i have to vent a little. i'm pretty ticked off and a little shaken up still.

tonight i skipped yoga to go cover a hiphop show headliner downtown. it just so happened my roomie was also performing, and another roomie was filming it with his friend. so we all went down in two cars. i loaded all my stuff for work tomorrow and my purse, etc into my trunk before we left the car. i knew i wouldn't be out til 2am, and then i had to head to the boyfriends to sleep before work tomorrow morning.

well..my roomie filming it left after our roomie's set with his friend to go home. he showed up a few minutes later, while i was photographing the headliners and said "dude, your car's been broken into!" i thought he was joking, but he said he was serious and i panicked, obviously.

ran the block over to where the two cars were parked, under street lights and across from my work where i park a few times a week.

sure enough, my back passenger window is COMPELETLY smashed. glass all over the seat. my front seats pulled forward. after cursing and looking in the back/front, i checked the trunk. my purse was gone. my purse had my diabetic supplies, my wallet, my ipod, a book, some makeup, and the camera my boyfriend got me for christmas. as well, they stole a bag from under my seat that had my favourite purple dress, a pair of leggings, underwear and some pads. they left my $100 boots that were in that bag though...but took my black heels from the front seat. they also took a 2year old sweater that had holes in it(but was one of my favs) that cost me $20, but left my $100 coat. they took a box that had some blackberry stuff in it, but it was the shipping box so you couldn't tell what was in it. they didn't take my gps tho, or anything else from my trunk.

we flagged down a cop that was driving by, he told me what to do, asked what was taken and gave my roomie and his friend some gloves to go look in the trash cans in the area. then drove off and started stopping homeless people to ask if they knew anything. i know this, cuz while i was on the phone filing the report, a group of homeless people came up and when they found out it was my car that got broken into, one of the women said "oh my god, are you the girl the cop said got her insulin stolen? oh no!" they said to give them 10minutes and they'd get my stuff, they'd go talk to some people.

well my roomie and his friend found my purse, with my wallet with all the cards in it..cuz there was nothing of value and i had my credit card on me. but no diabetic kit, no camera, no ipod. no clothes either.

i sent my boyfriend a text before i called to file the report, and my poor boyfriend who had just gotten home from a 17hour day, had to drive downtown to come get me and follow me to moms to get some insulin and needles.

i'm pretty pissed off and i have to take tomorrow off to call ICBC about fixing the window(my deductible is $500 which means i'll probably end up having to pay for it ALL) and seeing if they will cover anything else. plus my work about getting new keys for the buildings, a new swipe card and calling my bank/credit card about it cuz they took some receipts i had used with my card.

i was already having a pretty shitty day yesterday, pretty emotional and such..this just made it worse. it's 330am right now but i can't sleep. i feel pretty violated that they did that and went through my stuff and took things.

i kinda hope they tried to shoot up my insulin thinking it was heroin...

Jerks! Sorry that happened to you.

Oh no!!   That totally stinks.  I'm glad you had backup stuff somewhere.

that'll learn 'em! Sorry natalie :(

let me know if you need me to kick their @sses :)

Here's an idea from my evil twin!!!LOL(that was an evil lol) Make up a few signs and post them around where the car got broken into. Now for the really good part, here's what the the sign should say. WARNING!!! CAUTION!!! A car was broken into around here and some medical stolen. PLEASE DON"T USE THE NEEDLE"S AS I AM HIV+ or something like that!!!!! Hoping it will scare the <rap out of them!!!!!! Again with the evil laugh (like Austin Power's Dr. Evil)

haha cute idea keith, but they are all probably HIV positive already. we have a homeless/drug addict problem here(like most places I guess) and there are groups always fighting to get a needle exchange/shoot up site put in to try and stop the spread of hiv, since most of them re-use their needles and share needles now there is no fixed site where they can get free clean needles in exchange for their used ones.

all in all, it could've been worse..but my privacy has totally be violated. somewhere right now downtown, there's a crackwhore wearing my underwear and my favourite purple dress, and one of my favourite sweatershirts and my work black ankle boots...

i managed to get SOME sleep but i'm still exhausted because i was already sleep deprived. everyone was pretty pissed off about it and yelling about going and fucking up some crackheads(the shelter is like a block from where my car got broken into) for stealing my diabetic supplies. its good i had back-ups, but my glucose meter(if i still have the second one) is over at my house which is the otherside of downtown, and my mom's place with my insulin(havent moved all my stuff yet to my new place) is on the opposite side of downtown and my boyfriends where i was sleeping is on the opposite side of downtown from both those places, so i haven't tested yet cuz we were too exhausted to go try and find it at my place at 230am :/

Hoping today is better for you. The mental picture of the crackwhore, I am picturing a big butt in small stuff. LMAO

haha nice

i'm extremely exhausted which sucks. took the morning off work to deal with calling icbc about getting the window fixed all that, and it is getting a bit better tho. while i have to pay the $300 to fix the window(moms paying for it as i have $100 after getting paid today and paying bills and i gotta pay her back) the personal stuff they stole is covered under my step dads house insurance after we pay a $200 deductible since he hasnt filed a claim in over 10years. means that i can get money back for the value of my supplies, the camera, the memory card, the ipod, my clothes, my boots...after you add up the value its like $1000 so i'll get a cheque for $800 to go buy that stuff back! pretty happy about that!

Sounds like the silver lining around the dark cloud.

hi Batts, sorry that happened to you, but it is good that things seem to be getting a little better ...

Hope you are starting to feel better. What an awful story!!

i'm still pretty choked. i went and got my car from mom's yesterday and my step-dad had taped plastic to the window so the rain wouldn't get in..the boyfriend was poking fun of me for whining about the noise and when i went "well..hopefully if someone breaks in now they just rip off the plastic.." and whining about not having my ipod or camera and stuff.

i took my car in this morning before work to get the glass replaced, gotta borrow the money off mom cuz i've got $100 left now for two weeks so i'm feeling pretty choked at the moment about the whole thing! haha

my buddy is gonna lend me his old nano since he just got an itouch til i get the insurance cheque tho..cant live without music!!

hi Batts :)  Sometimes it takes a good cry, just to release some of the stress and pressure of it all. Then maybe you can move on from it .I can imagine it must have been a pretty upsetting thing to go through.Having someone breaking into your car, doing damage by breaking the glass. Then the taking of your things...The most important thing , is that all this was all done while you were away from the car and you are safe.It is hard having your things taken but they can be replaced. There is only one you :) Try to feel better ,think about the new things you will buy soon.Take Care Batts :)

that's very true, it could've been much worse and at least i am okay!

i just realized today though when i was in my doc's office waiting to get a referral and testing my bloodsugar....i just lost almost 3months of logs, not including years worth(i think i got that tester two years ago, after my mom drove over the first one by mistake haha)...and i have to go see my endo in two weeks! he usually complains that he doesnt have enough log data to properly make adjustments. i've been slacking too due to being tired and stressed out, so i have many two or three tests for each day since friday if only one..ugggh. i'm gonna be in SO much shit!

this whole thing keeps getting better and better! :(

Oh my dear Batts i'm so sorry that u had this horrible experience & i hope that who every it was that broke into ur car gets their own karma coming back to them.  But I'm glad to hear that ur able to at least 80% of the value of the things that were taken back, hope ur able to get it back quickly.

But with that also I can only imagine how u were/are feeling about what happened & i agree with someone else that stated if u need us to come & give a butt kicking & i'm so glad that u have a support system to help u through finicially for a little while & that u were able to get to supplies that were in another location.

Well I hope that ur having a much better days since.

Dang that sucks so bad ... I hate that for you ...... Wish there was something we should do..I think we shoudl all gang up and start a riot lol

I'm sorry to hear about this.  I know it must be frustrating.  I know I fear someone stealing my daughters D  supplies.  I know you will have better days to come.
