How to change Lantus time with time zone change?

Hi everyone.

In a few days my family will be travelling to Finland, the country with the highest incidence of type 1. The time zone is seven hours earlier than where we live in the eastern time zone of the USA. We will be flying all night. We normally give our daughter Lantus at bedtime around 9:30 or 10:00 pm. That would be 5:00 am in Finland.

We are considering just adjusting her injection time an hour later each night for a few days and then giving her Lantus in the morning in Finland. My wife is worried that might upset our daughter's control and that maybe we should try splitting the dose between morning and evening. She only gets 3 units now.

Any suggestions? Would splitting doses 2/1 or 1/2 be okay and would that be the least disruptive?

Should we just give Lantus in the early morning in Finland?
