well i was diagnosed a couple weeks after my 11th birthday. i was always scared of needles and the thought of having to see a needle on an every day basis scared me. so while i was in the hospital i got a bear that had the arms legs stomach and back and stuff patched up so i could practice on the bear. i was in the hospital for a week and on the third day i started to test by myself but i still wasnt able to take my shots by myself. So when i got out of the hospital it was about a month later when i started taking my shots on my own. But even 6 years later i have my days where i just dont wanna do it anymore and have someone i trust like a family member give me a shot or test my sugar. so i guess it doesnt really matter because everyone will have days where they just dont wanna do it anymore but it has to be done....
